Well to sum up..

The opener down here,,is set for April 1st,, now theres talk of shutting down the whole season.. if this could happen making a trip to Fort Bragg may be the only shot at putting a couple of those tasty fresh Salmon in the freezer. That being said I want to know if theres any fish in the system up there before driving for 4 hours and spending a couple of hundred bucks to find out.

I have one weekend open this month so if I'm gona do it it has to be soon..SR

If they were catching fish (Salmon) it would be on the boards. The silence means no fish :-X yet ;)

usafishing reports a few fish being caught off of Pudding Creek in 300 feet of water. Sounds like it's been pretty ugly weather wise out there lately, so the reports are kinda slim.

LET'S GO 8) 8)

just talked to my good buddy Dennis that lives up in Fort Bragg and asked him the same thing..he tells me its slow but they've brought fish home every trip, he said 1-4 fish per boat, nothing to big between 6-13 pounds. he said most of the fish have been coming on kril and j71 hoochies and some on purple haze.

I have all my lines (figurative) in the water just waiting for a break in the weather. I've been checking the web cam from the real estate office in Mendocino for signs of a lull in the snotty conditions, called Ashley of the Rumblefish, and keep looking at the NOAA site. Even have the neighbor Vern (37 years mill worker and all around good guy) looking from Chicken Point out over Noyo harbor. Vern also gets some local insider information on the hot spots.

Despite all, there's just been a day or so that's been fishable since the opener on the 18th. I'm hoping for next weekend to get enough of a break to get on the water. Please post if you get up the guts to go.

The Rumblefish ventured out with a light load on Sunday 2-26 looking for salmon and crabs. Captain Kurt Akins reported 4 salmon to 8 pounds for their light load adding limits of crabs. The salmon are being caught off Pudding Creek just a tad to the NW in 300 feet of water and their crab gear is seeing steady action in the 80 to 150 foot depths off Ten Mile Beach.
