with six weeks to go
it is not time to get exited
it is time to get to work
if your boat is ready to go
do you have the reels lubed with fresh line
have you inspected your rods
what about tackle inventory
have you made up those new leaders
do you have every color and size of every lure
how about hooks
those rusty looking hooks will be just fine if you remember to buy that hook sharpener you always wanted
do you have enough lead to sink a ship
how about those downriggers
did you run the line out and look for bad spots
that net with the hole in it (you know which one)
is it time to get a new one
and if you dont have the boat ready

the most importint parts your

well time to get back to work

Now there is a man who knows what he is doing. All this time I thought I knew what I needed and how to set it up. No I realize I was only fooling myself. Well, at least I still have 6 weeks to prepare.

after last years count down i knew Brian would jump in here

02-21-2006, 01:14 PM
i'm with tsl - the season has already begun for me ... on the dock. spent the three day weekend putting bottom paint on the hull, changing out the bottom end gear case oil, hitting lube spots (both motors), enspecting gear, pulling reels to take to hai's for a belated cleanup. haven't even contemplated my fishing gear yet. if anything, my laundry list is longer now. with the small boat, safety first second and third, then i'll worry about the fishing gear. good times.

02-21-2006, 02:40 PM
hey Bob..since i started last seasons count down i thought i'd be nice and let some one else do the honors ;)! but really, i cant wait to drag that first line behind the boat!

hey Derek, long time no talk..getting the boat ready huh? should be picking my boat up here pretty soon.

02-24-2006, 09:45 PM
Talk abot a dark cloud. I might have to restart the count down for a year or maybe three depending on what they decided to do. My letters went out today, and now all I can do is keep my fingers crossed.

Tick Tock, Tick Tock . . .

I'm with the rest of you, and now that the countdown has officially begun, I guess it's time to remember to come back and visit the Salmon Thread. Thinking about my checklist, but finding time to get to it will happen soon.

03-02-2006, 08:45 AM
i still have not gotten a chance to finish my motor install
off work today and not raining at the moment
out the door in a few to hope fully finish the bolt ons
starter turns but batteries are low must have bad connection or one battery dead or something
need to finish the bolt ons in order to gain access to the batteries
have it hooked to a trickle charger but it wont take a charge
my little truck looks like a mobile junk yard and the boats cockpit is about the same
i may just put the boat in the the big shed but its 25 miles away
at least it will be dry
all the inside of the cabin is done
including a bunch of new "brian special" setups
