Hit the big water for the 1st time in my own boat on Saturday.
Put it in at 5:30 and followed some boats straight out of the harbor about a mile. Put two 23 inch fish in the cooler within 30 minutes of dropping our lines in the water. Fishing went totally dead at about 7:00 O'clock. I started to see the fleet congregate about a mile off the stacks, so I headed over. Lots of fish stacked on bait in that area. Caught about 15 fish in around 2 hours, only 3 were keepers. We decided to head in around 12:30 with 5 keepers. The water was very nice with just a bit of wind chop and I fealt we could have stayed out all day. Didn't get into any big fish, but we had a great time anyway.
All fish came between 60-75 feet OTW. The Hot setup was an 11 inch red hotSpot Flasher with a 24 inch leader to a purple haze hootchie. Watermelon apex caught 2 shakers, wouldn't touch my FBR. Acres of Shakers guys but I heard of some decent fish being taken, so go get em

What kind of boat were you out there in? My buddy just bought a used 23' trophy as of right now we are familiarizing ourselves with it. But hope to be getting out for some salmon here soon.
Thanks for the report good to here you guys got into some fish. Bigger ones next time ;D.

Boat is an 18 foot Trophy. Was trolling next to Kayaks and 14 foot gregors. Was told the ocean could have been quite a bit calmer also.
23 Foot trophy will be a perfect boat for out there. Just make sure it is reliable and have gps for the foggy outings.

HH glad you had a great time and that you got your boat out there. I like that area the water is usually better and the wind isn't as bad as it can get at Bodega.

Moss Landing is a natural gas power plant. *You must be thinking of Diablo Canyon.

Yes Ron the fishing is fishing and not much catching out of Moss. The water is flat and looks good for another day or two. Hopefully the salmon in Morro Bay decide to give us one more good shot in Monterey Bay before it goes completely dead. I'm listining to http://www.shiptoshoreradio.com/ as I type and it still sounds slow today (Wednesday). When and if things pick up, you can bet I will be out on the water the next day. Sorry, but I hope it happens in the middle of the week so I don't have to fight the weekend crowds, heheheeee.

Still waiting for a pull-down!
