Sunday that CA dawn reported 8 keeper sturgeon to 67 lbs for 12 anglers. Ghost shrimp seem to be doing the job. I don't know this area, and have never fished it, but it sounds like the sturgeon bite at the rock wall is pretty good.

Is it ok to fish there at night and is it safe for you and your vehicle?

Thanks!

Yes theres two good 30+' holes within casting distance of the wall. And the end of the wall is a knarly current in 40+' and settles on the other side of the wall.

They lock the gates an hour after dark so you cant drive out until 5am...But theres plenty of people who walk in for night. Problem is getting wet all night and then you cant just leave! :-[ I would suggest parking on Central and walking it for the night! Then you can walk back to your car and leave when you want! 8-)

Be sure and bring a pound of squid! If it's too slow for you, a half or whole squid WILL get you some bites, for sharks or rays. A whole herring will give you a chance for a sturgeon bite but they haven't really shown up yet.
As for night fishing... you are taking a chance...it can get pretty dangerous in that nieghborhood at night!

EBA how far down the wall do you have to go for the 30ft holes??

Matt will tell you its a short walk... ::)

More like the death march if you ask me. :o ;)

Those holes are alllllll the way down at the end.
Prally a 15-20 min walk across the jetty.
Definitely worth it if you ask me.
Remember, what you pack in you have to pack out so pack light.
It is a killer spot and I will be hittin it up once the weather warms a bit. (I have a serious issue with the cold)

Now EBA will say something like, "Whats wrong sehoner, was rite aid out of midol?"

At the very end, there is a 45' foot plus hole right where the end of the wall meets the opening to the ships and the other stand-alone wall starts.
Squid is almost a garunteed "something" bite ;)

I fish there mostly in the summer, I probably won't fish there again until spring.

I've only been a few times but would recommend one thing and that is some hiking type boots. One wrong step on that long walk to the end could break or sprain your ankle. Good Luck!

This time of the year, that area is pretty much dead, except for the occasional sturgeons. Comes Spring, you can catch a lot of smelt, perch and maybe a few stripers.
