SupaFly Kiwi Guy and I arrived at a undisclosed location on the West Carson River and followed the well disguised trail down to a secluded spot on the water. The air temps were in the mid 30s and there was a north wind. This is a pre Pyramid warm up and the opportunity for me to try and catch some nice Donaldson bows on the fly. There was no disappointment. Fishing from 0730 until 1015 we caught 20 bows from 2 1/2 to 5 pounds. The fish were caught on Woolly Buggers and a 36 year old black Woolly Worm that last saw service at Pyramid in the 70s. It was a blast catching these nice trout on a fly. Too bad the 3 flys I had were eventually snapped off. Gareth thanks for coming with me and thanks for breakfast. The shoes are drying on the fence. I should get some waders huh? A wonderful morning. See you at Pyramid Gareth.

Wow, you both had a great day!!! Loved the videos, too. Can't wait to fish the West Carson, but it probably won't be until next year. Have a great time at Pyramid. Can't wait to read your report. Patti

Waders? YEAH, and a bigger net! Great photos, report, and some sweet action (when the camera was held steady) video! Oh yeah, and maybe take more than three flies next time. ;D

Sometimes you have to beat the bushes if you want to find the fish. ::) ;) ;D

Nice report. I enjoyed the video's. I can't wait to retire so I can fish as much as you do.

looks like you guys had lots of fun!* the spot where you had breakfast is my favorite place to eat when in that area.* Leesa is a great cook!*
I think I will drag my fly gear up the hill on my next trip, I have not used it in years!

instead of making a new report I will tag my report onto the Captain's as he is the one that told me where the top secret "undisclosed location" was at.
arrived late afternoon Thursday and nailed a 4 lb. bow on my fly rod that I have not used in years.* what a kick!* these are some awesome fighting fish!* went back at first light Friday morning and managed to get 4 more.* all were kept for table fare as some were hooked too deeply to release.* a brisk 31 degrees in the morning with frost everywhere.* warmed to a beautiful 60 degrees in the afternoon.* I was the only one there for a few hours in the morning then around 9 a lot of people started showing up.* I can only imagine the crowds this weekend!

CC and Atavuss, your posts have me itching to get back to the Walker. I have only fished it once, and that was earlier this year. Is it worth fishing on the weekends or will the crowds make it unpleasant?

I don't know about the Walker but the Carson will be crowded on weekends.* weekdays it gets crowded too.* I had the place to myself from first light to about 8:30 then others started showing up.* I do like my solitude so I left around 9am.* someone told me this morning there were 12 guys standing shoulder to shoulder at the Carson River 89/88 bridge.* *:o
the farther away you walk from the easy access the better the solitude is too.*

CC, awesome pics and video. Once again, thanks for sharing the great day of fishing you and Gareth had. I'll be looking forward to another one of your fishing adventures during my work weekend. FISH ON!

did anyone else happen to see the military cargo jet fly through Hope Valley Friday morning?* it could not have been higher than 500 feet, it was freaky seeing that huge aircraft screaming by! I think it was a C-17 Globemaster

atavuss - Nice catch and photos!

Sounds like the plane that would occasionally roar over the treetops at my old location near Mt. Aukum. Never saw much of it as it buzzed so low, but the sound sure got my attention!
