Arrived at Caples spillway with Jetspray and SupaFly Kiwi Guy at around 0800. The brother/sister team of Chimp and Skink were all ready there. Fished with flies, Kastmasters, Gulp and plastics. We caught some small bows and beautiful colored brooks. Finally Mark hooks one. Not the biggist but a beautiful Nebraska bow of near 5 pounds. Another fisherman hooked a nice one off the spillway and I was able to net it for him and I only had to wade up to my knees. ::) The wind came and we decided to move to Red. On the way Dave and I stopped off to take a peek at the Caples ramp. The road down is now all paved and so is the parking lot. A workman there told that only lines need to be painted and it will be good to go in the spring. We fished Red but it was really quite windy. We did manage 2 brooks. We soon left and Dave and I headed back to the Carson Valley. Dave, Gareth, Patti and Mark it was nice fishing with you. Untill next time....

But wait theres more. :)

I arrived home about 1:00 and found a PM waiting for me from a board member stating that there may be a fresh suppily of Donaldsons up on the Carson. What to do. Power nap or more fishing? I was back on the road again shortly after 2:00. Fished the W. Carson around the 89 Bridge. Caught 6 Donaldson bows between 3 and 4 pounds. Across the river and down stream from where I was fishing there was a mom wearing a USC sweatshirt watching his young son fish. They weren't having and luck so I invited them to fish where I was. I certainly couldn't leave a fellow Trojan fan in the lurch. The family was from Riverside and stopped to let their fishing fanatic son fish. Their ultimate destination was Berkley and the big game. I gave the kid what was working for me and he soon C&Rd 3 nice bows. It was a wonderful day. Next week Pyramid. I love October so.

Nice report.* I sure wish they would begin stocking those large 'bows farther north instead of putting 8 inchers in Boca, Stampede, Jackson Meadows, etc.!! :'(

Good pics, looks like Caples getting a lot of pressure. SC?.......That's the only thing that doesn't go with Sierra trout, perhaps the Washington Huskies :) ;D

These fish aren't from the DFG but from a private hatchery in Susanville. They also stock these trout in Alamanor.
