Mrs. C. and I awoke at 0500. Early Bird breakfast at Sharkey's and down US 395. Destination the June Lake Loop. Mostly travel and photography in mind but some fishing as well. Photo op at Conway Summit and one at June Lake. Went to the marina area at Gull Lake and poked around. Near the marina store there was a little block offed creek that had some of the biggest Alpers Bows I've ever seen. It looked like a petting zoo. :o Nothing under 7 Lbs and many over 10. No fishing allowed. :( I suspect that these trout will be stocked in the lake after the season closes so that there will be some monsters in the lake for the 2010 opener. Next stop Silver lake where I was able to get a little fishing in. Tried a gold PM and a 1/4 oz gold Kastmaster to no effect. The other anglers I talked to stated that the entire loop has been slow. Back to 395 via Grant Lake. On the way back home we stopped at Lee Vining and Bridgeport and I tried two spots on the West Walker. No good. No fish but one of the most beautiful days I can remember. Within a month the area will be even more spectacular when the fall colors come out. I will be back.

Quite a day trip!* We used to camp and fish that area before my wife became enamored with a large vegetable garden each summer. :'(* June has good shore fishing to the right of the boat in the picture, off the main road.* We trolled that area out* of reach of the bankies and we all caught plenty of fish.* Gull has a hot spot for bankies and boaters out from the large rock on the north shore past the camp ground.* We trolled hardware and were not nearly as successful as tlhe boaters who anchored in a circle around the hole near the rock and just dropped lines with bait.** Grant has some good shore fishing a number of places-the inlet area, about halfway up the lake where the old dam is under water and on the east side of the dam area are three of them.* There are some very large browns in Grant.
Thanks for the pics and the memories.

Thanks for the pics, I feel relaxed just imagining my self there. I make that trip every June abnd this year I had the same results. The big difference is that we had snow, rain and cold wearther. I can't wait to go back, hopefully next year it will be in the fall.
