Got to the lake at 6 am, was launched and fishing by 6:25am just outside the free launch headed due north. I fishing with longtime friend joel gleeson who ia contractor , I taking him on a payback trip for helping me with some electrical issue at my work.
We get one rod down and the same deal as 2 weeks ago, Fish on!! 5 mins into the troll. I hand it off to joel and as we bring it up to the boat
What the heck is that, it a bass I think?

Got SquawFish?

Back to trolling, joel got hookep again, and this time it's what were here for Steelies! It a really fiesty 14"er that has some good strenght. We re-leased it!

Then joel hooked up again with the same rod, again it was a nice 15" steelie with an attitude.
after carfully removing the hooks from it fin and under throat, We re-leased it sucessfully.

Then my rod went down and it was on!! Ok the fight stopped right away. I thinking not another squawfish.
It turns out to be a 3-4lb smallmouth bass, a nice fish!
Then 2 more hours of no fish and a couple good strikes and were about to call it a day. Were Just about to pull up the first line and whammo, a huge take down and we both took turns on fighting the running fish. we slowley got it to the boat and it was a gifted 3-4lb steelie which was flawless. 21in" over the cooler tape.

We wrapped it up after that and called it a good day in the books! We be back out on monday, I wll post up more results.

so we put her back and released back into the depths.

I'm fully inspired! My first time fishing for steehead on Sonoma I was successful. Then (this season) the water started dropping, and I was getting hung up all the time with my downrigger gear. This was when the fish were up high. Good to see there out there and accessible.
