My aunt and uncle invited me on a trip, with food, place to stay and fishing, i could not decline. My cousin and i began our travels from my hometown auburn. Driving down hwy 49 we passed goldtown after goldtown. Took a peek at new melones and it was packed, the lake lice are out. stopped at a crouded don pedro and hooked up a couple of brookies real ez off shore, just had to cast through the bushes. FINALLY got on hwy 120 and into the pine trees. the golden rolling hills with oak trees are pretty but not my cup of tea. i love the mountains.
The cousins and i relaxed at the cabin for awhile with some beer and then decieded to fish some streams. seeing fish in the water got me excited but there were few takers. we caught 2 fish.
In the morning we went to hetch hetchy, the mission was to catch dinner. hetch hetchy was busy with sightseers, only saw 1 young kid with a batman pole. My uncle who has been fishing tuolumne county since he was young, made a great guide. He said "jig a worm off the dam and you will get a brown" I was jiggin for 20 minutes for 2 browns, 16incher and a 19incher. My uncle led us on a 4 mile hike to his special spot. Non stop action. Rainbow after rainbow, i couldnt get a chance to drink my beer. I had a feeling that some big browns were near, i cast a large rapala for a little and had one big boy follow it in.
hungry and with fish to carry back we called it a day. Had an amazing fish dinner.
The next morning it was trout omelets. we fished what i think was called big bear creek for a few lil rainbows we C & R.
It was a great trip and good to see a different area of the state.

Man, it sounds like you've got the big brown fever. Well, who could blame you after those hogs you caught. Sounds like it was a good trip even if you didn't catch any 14 LBers.

Great pics dboucree, that is a beautiful area. These kinds of post are great as they can bring back some great memories.

I see they built a bridge over that creek crossing. If it's the one I think it is there was just a rope strung across to hang onto. The year I was there (ancient times) someone was swept away and they closed the crossing due to high water, good thing it was the day after we passed. I have a pic somewhere, I'll see if I can find it and send it to you.
