Drove up thru truckee late fri. night,ran into a nice little storm,fog on the road(cool),and lots of deer. Past out in my jeep,woke up early and walked to my spot at sardine,hooked up with 6 brookies,and 2 bows in a half day(nothin big)(1 monster strike and miss).Walked up to upper sardine,windy didnt stay,went to gold lake and got out of the jeep,hurricane force winds,time to go. Started driving,looked back at the butte and got the fire to turn around and hike it (This is for you Macattack).Its been 2 seasons since I climbed the stairway to the lookout tower,this is a great hike. If youve never been here,dont,its too addicting to resist the good fishing and awesome scenery and world class hiking,save yourself the turmoil. Words or pics cannot do this place justice. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/6426/im000843.jpg * * * http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/8274/im000852.jpg * * http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/7940/im000865.jpg * * http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/7908/im000839.jpg * * * * http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/6165/im000861.jpg * *http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/8907/im000840.jpg * * http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/4862/im000838.jpg

Nice!!! thanks for the report and pictures. awesome to have such places within a coupla hours. Does sardine (lower) fish well throughout the summer? haven't fished it ever, but I've walked by it going to upper sardine and it's definitely on my list.

Ive never had a bad day, even in the summer heat,L sardine is protected from the brunt of the wind, but in a wind free day id take gold anyday, snag and most of the other lakes in the basin are gettin stocked this year, alot of brooks,I love it long time. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

No problem Mack,by the way I didnt 4+4 up the mountain,I hiked from the trailhead. Heres a few more pics,im gettin the hang of this pic stuff. I forgot to mention, happy fathers day to all,I grew up without my dad, found out a couple years ago that he was gone,so on fathers day weekend I like to be alone in the mountains with my music to reflect on what might have been. Give your dad a hug, this life we see thru our eyes is temporary at best, dont let it pass you by. *http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/5357/im000858m.jpg * * * * http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/5210/im000857p.jpg * * http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/4069/im000856.jpg * * * * http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/846/im000864.jpg

Nice to here a report on the lakes basin , *Thanks .
Girlfriend and I have been waiting to make the trek to Sardine due to the fact they haven't been planting as much as the Past, and we actually have been skunked the last couple of years. Caught small planter RAINBOWS?? last year.
Posted because in the good old days we would C&R *14 - 20+" brookies ALL DAY LONG!!! 60 yard casts with a gold kastmaster behind the rocks off the shore. Boats would troll ( be blown around) all day for nothing.
AHHH those were the days.
I'm sure we are going up this weekend after your report. Think I'll do the Stairs. Girlfriend won't go near them!
Thanks again.
