Trolled from 0630 to 1045 for 10 fish to 2 1/2lbs. *Caught a couple on top at first light then a very long dry spell as the trout were feeding on little spiders floating on the surface of the water. *Once the sun got a little higher in the sky the trout stopped their surface feeding spree and the bite got pretty good. *The remaining trout were caught 10-30 OTW. *We had 5 trout get off at the boat today. *Should have been off the water about an hour earlier if only.........

Nice way to get 'em! I'm not a fly fisherman, but sounds like that would have been on hit that day.

We're headed there for the Memorial day madness. We're shooting to be in the water by 8am (wish it could be sooner, but I'm just trying to keep it real).

Seems like from reports I've read, most fish have been coming in the early morn'. Any tips for a late arrival bite? Go deep? OR would we be better off coming real late and waiting on the evening bite?

Way to go Brad!

I hit it on tuesday found the same thing going on. We had multiple sdr's and a couple ldr's we started out catching them at 10' then dropped to 25' by 9:30am.We switched over after c&r 8 trout. Then managed to c&r 7 of the striped ones 15-25'OTW. *

I'll be out there tommorrow 8-)*

Nice job on those feisty stripers Tony. We got to get out together and chase them one more time before I make the move to Washington. It's been a great year for trout at Del Valle. You taught me well. :)

FISH HARD. They will bite all day, you just need to get down to them. 15-30' later in the day will work.

Good job on your catches but can someone tell me what ldr and sdr means?

sdr: short distance release. ldr: long distance release. Both ways the fish wins :'(
