My son Eric is in town for a brief visit so Jetspray is kind enough to take us out on a trip to Topaz. We decided to try a different technique so instead of trolling we would do some sit fishing. Arrived at the South East corner at 7:20 set up and set out. We were using worms, Powerbait, green Gulp and tossing 1/4 oz gold Kastmasters. *We had 6 trout in the boat from 13 to 16 inches. 3 were caught on Kastmasters and 3 on green Gulp. The weather was warm and the wind was light. The Surface temp was 60 to 65 degrees. The lake was near full and still rising. There is lots of debris in the south from runoff. There are lots of fish in in the lake and the bite is best in the morning. It was a beautiful day and I'm glad that my kid was able to get some fish. Thanks for the ride Dave.

Looks like a great day there CC. *Nice looking trout in the Pics. *I wish the lake was full then we could take our boats up the river and catch tons of nice fish but I don't see it filling up this year. *Look at those trees on the southeast shoreline where the river comes in. *When the water reaches them the lake will be full. *Maybe next year.

Yep Tony that high and dry walkway/dock is a clue to how much it has to come up. Same thing at Eagle Lake. There were quite a few large fish on the FF as well as a bunch of trash coming in from the river. Noted a increase of the bloom on the scope as well (shows as surface clutter). The fishing days are dwindling as the lake lice arrives. There were a few there by noon, we left at 12:30. I was glad to put CC and son on some fish, it was a beautiful day, great meeting your son Richard........Jetspray

You don't have any pics of where the river comes in do you?

I do not myself Tony but that was where the debris pile was and the main part of the clutter field was. The bloom was prevelant in that area as well.....Jetspray

CC was kind enough to send me the closest pic he had but I can't get my hopes up this year. The south end of the lake is the closest we'll get to going up the river this year. :(

They seem to be holding in that area, but I was spotting bait balls on the north end close to the camping area (Douglas County). There were some large fish just west of the launch ramp darting in and out of the bait balls.....Jetspray

Yeah we've caught some big ones in the past fishing in a scenerio just as you describe. ;)

Way to go Dave, Rich, and Son. It's good to see another generation of Darencette, I see the family resemblance. I'm surprised Topaz is so full, but that is good news.

Yep the lake was pretty full. Both of the ramps were in water when we got there, one was submerged. There was someone there in a hurry to bring them up though......Jetspray
