View Full Version : 2nd time at Camanche...2-28(Now with Pics)

Froggie and I have been reading all the posts so we decided to hit Camanche...again. *We were skunked there back in Dec. *We got on the water around 7:30 and heard the chatter from Hat Island and decided to do our normal thing...head away from the crowd. *We trolled up the narrows until like 10:00 and had nothing. *Not a bite. *We decide to join the armada at Hat. *We get to the island set up our rods and head of towards the causeway. *Boom! my topline goes off and I fight and lose a nice fish. *We troll around for a while and around 11:00 and I decide to try a glitter crip-l-lure and we speed up to like 2.6 mph. *I set it at 10 otw on the rigger and we troll around Hat and head back towards the cause way. *The rod goes nuts and the battle (and chinese fire drill) is on. *This fish did not want to join us in the boat!!! *After it wraps me around another line (which we get to the boat and Froggir clips *off my line as I continue to fight. *I finally get it nearby and Froggie slips the net under and boats my first Comanche trout. *I throw it quickly on the scale and see 3 15....or thought I did. *I had just said to Froggie "this is the biggest bow I've ever caught" so I was a little suprised because I have caught trout over 4 pounds several times. *We'll come back to the weight!!! *We keep trolling until like 2:00 *and Froggie started trying spinners and actually had a couple hits and an LDR. *She goes back to the Rapalas and wham, Fish On. *A couple minutes later I net Froggie's first Camanche bow. *A chunky 15" battler. *We give it up and head for the dock. *We make it home and take the fish out of the cooler. *Froggie says "Man! That thing looks bigger than 4 lbs. *She digs out the scale and we re-weigh the bow. *The scale reads 5 pounds 15 ozs to 6-4!!! *I turned it off and on, I checked several times and took pics of the scale....A 6 LB TROUT! *That is definitely my personal best! *
We did not "clean up" but we had a great day. *We saw a bunch of people. *Nice talking to Kokemachine, Jonesy, Troutwagon. and a bunch of other fisher people. *
Looks like we are learning a new lake!!
Thanks for all the info Robbie
See you on the water

Froggie will get the pics on.

Well...Tortuga manages to get the big one again...I'm sure getting experience with netting & maneuvering the boat while he reels in some nice fish. Oh well...I know it's only a matter of time, especially after reading all these posts of some beautiful fish being caught all around me. It was great talking to Robbie, Trout Wagon & JoneZ. Here's today's pics:

I should have taken pics of the 2 fillets from Tortuga's trout. They were 12" long & the widest part of them was 5" across. Wow, those will be our annual Smoked Trout appetizer for next year's Thanksgiving Dinner at my sister's home.

Now, hopefully it will be my turn to land one of those beauties. We'll be back next weekend for sure!
