Aa.. what the heck, I'll post about a very popular spot? Good flow and steady temp made the little truckee a good bet. Parked near stampede dam and fly fished near parking. Hooked and lost a rainbow, when he jumped, on a black wd40 sz 22. Kept trying with nymphs for no more action. Need more practice, more nymphs, and more patience. Spent half my time cleaning algae off my rig. Went to the car for a warm hat and jacket and decided I was gonna cover some water fast with my spin rod.
Saw a couple fish holding below a log. Hooked a BIG one for a few seconds of fast line peeling before he spit the hook. Had him on a chartreuse wooly bugger. Worked downstream a bit and caught this nice brown on a black marabou leech. Got her holding in front of a rock in a pockety run, late afternoon. Barely avoided the skunk

nice catch. how do you run flys on a spinning combo? a wooly bugger is a fly right?

I tie the buggers with enough weight to cast. Lots of big streamers are castable, eapecially when they're wet. Wet rabbit especially. Good enough for a stream.
