View Full Version : PYRAMID 11/27 TO 11/30

11-30-2008, 07:07 PM
Cheesecakelady and myself spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday camping and fishing at Pyramid. *It was a fantastic fun trip, Fish Junky joined us Friday evening and fished with us Sat and Sun. *The weather was sunny and warm, Kevin and I were down to t-shirts. *The fish were biting on a slow bite, but enough to make it fun. *Dee and I fished Friday afternoon from 12:30 to 3:00 pm for 5 landed at the boat and another 4 were LDR'S. *Dee caught a very sweet 26.25" bright red male at 7 lbs!! :) *She told me that made the whole trip for her and she didn't care if she caught any more or not. *Yellow-Watermelon Sting-King, 1.25 oz trolling weight out 150', speed was 2.5 mph on the GPS. *I was using a Rainbow Sting-King on the wire at 20' and a 100 foot set back. *We both caught equal numbers of fish.

Saturday we took our time having *breakfast and hit the water at 8:30, went north from Pelican Point all 3 days. *Picked up a few in the first 1.5 hours and then the bite came on around 10:00 am. *Dee fished her same set-up, as did I and Kevin was using a 3" lyman in green and tan. *When we took Dee back at noon *we had landed 8 to thr boat and had another 4 LDR'S. *Kevin and I went back out until 4:00 pm and landed 4 more to the boat and had about 5-6 LDR'S :(

Sunday morning we again had a leisurley breakfast and hit the water at 8:40 am. *The water was a little choppy today. *Fishing was a little slower than on Saturday. *I used a green/pink 4" Lyman and the rainbow Sting-King at 20 and 25" OTW, Dee used the yellow-Watermelon Sting-King with the 1.25 oz trolling weight *and Kevin used the Green/tan Lyman at 20' OTW. *The PLAN was to fish until 1:00 pm and head for the dock and home. *We had 10 to the boat and had kept 4 and had about 6 LDR'S at noon. *Dee's back was hurting her, so we started trolling south for the dock. *I kept saying we needed to land 2 more fish, 1 for Dee and 1 for Kevin. *We picked up a nise 18" for Cheesecakelady, AKA Dee and she wanted to stop and run for the dock and I said OK, as soon as we get one last fish for Kevin, switched to a Rainbow spoon and BAM BAM FISH ON :) ;D He said this is a good fish and after a good battle, I netted a huge cutt for him. *Didn't have a scale on board, so called Chick Fishn and Art and they didn't have a scale, so called Fishing Buddy and he had a scale. *Ran full out up to Warriers to weigh Kevin's fish and the scale was broken and dinn't work right. *Ran all out for the dock, loaded up the boat and went to Crosby's for weight and measurement. *Kevin was hoping for a 10 pounder :) but his fish weighed out at 7.625 lbs *:( :) :) and was 27.25" long. *Kevin will post pictures later? * *

Great way to end a great 3 day Pyramid trip. *Get on out there and get yours, their in there ;D

Nice job Oddie, Cheesecake Lady, and Fishing Buddy. *This was a good weekend for big fish. *The wind did blow a little bit this morning, we were on the south side and it didn't get bad at all. *I'm anxiously awaiting those pics. Good detailed report.

Thanks forthe great post, looking forward to the pictures.

I have caught a few 10 pound fish from this lake and the
smallest fish to hit the ten pound mark was a real fat
28.25, while most had to be at least 29 or better.

Oddie, I made an entry earlier but must have lost it, so here goes again. Sounds like your group had a great time this past weekend on Pyramid. I was working or I would have been out there also.
Barb and I tried to get out Mon. but the wind was at it so no go. Tue. I was suppose to meet a frend and do some fishing, but the wind was worst than Mon. so we cancelled.
I enjoyed the time we spent on the lake and look forward to getting together again. Let me know when you have an open seat. If I'm not working it will be a go.

Take care, Samm

Beautiful fish!!!!!!! ;D They dont look super fat. Are they always long and skinny? And where do they spawn? :-?

12-02-2008, 10:45 PM
Sorry this is a really late post, but H*&^ we went up their on late FRI, and fished on the shore that afternoon, got a few. Sat morn we headed to Blockhouse area with the boat and got about 30 fish, sorry no size, so no pics. I talked to Chick Sun morn and she was heading north. we again headed to the south (dummy). Caught only four fish. Between us four fishing buddies, we probably sucked and had to pay our top guy with first fish @ 21 in on Fri and biggest @ 21.1/4". on Sun Anyway what a great weekend with lots of SUN and fish.

This article by drstressor doesn't have any info on spawning, but it will tell you everything else.

12-03-2008, 06:58 AM
There is no natural reproduction. The fish return to the spawning channel at Sutcliffe where the eggs and milt are taken. The mature fish home in on the scent of the water where they were acclimated to the lake before release. Spawning activity starts in March, peaks in April, and tapers off in May.

Prowler, you are welcome to go out with us anytime you are up here. Just give us a call to set up a date. Kevin said he doesn't like pineapple but he did like my pineapple coconut cheesecake that I took to have for desert after we had home-made manicotti for dinner along with our salad and french bread. If you have a special request, just let me know. [smiley=chowtime.gif] [smiley=wink.gif]

WOW, you guys that was an awesome report.
Great weather, great company, awesome lodging, food & FISH!!
I'm *[smiley=kermit.gif] toad-ally (HA HA) GREEN with envy!!

Hope we can get up there for the Spring Fest...if it's Easter Weekend, we can do it. If not, oh well have to plan it another time. Maybe this coming Jan for the 3-day weekend??? I sure would like a go at that lake! [smiley=angling.gif]

With the strange economy right now, we haven't got the RV yet. So, camping is not an option in the winter. [smiley=cold.gif]
