View Full Version : Almanor Browns & Eagle Rainbows 10/5-10/6 (W/PICS)

On Sunday, my wife and I decided to head up to Lake Almanor to check on the fishing and then head to Eagle Lake. *We arrived at the brand new Antlers Motel across the street from Holiday market in Chester. *The super-friendly lady at the front desk let us check in and handed us some maps and fishing reports. *We dropped off our stuff at the room and headed to the Canyon Darn launch ramp area. *We started fishing in the overcast weather and couldn't get a bite for the first 30 minutes or so. *My wife had a nice takedown, but couldn't react fast enough to get the fish to the boat. :'( *After a little longer, the skies started clearing up and the fishing turned ON! :D

Here's a couple of browns that I managed to land...

A short, but stocky brown...

And one other pic of another...

We ended up hooking 11 and landing 6, all being browns. :)

So we went back to the Antler Motel and got some rest for the next day of fishing. *We were on the road by 4:30am headed to Eagle. *When we arrived, Eagle was socked in with fog. *I had to use my compass (No GPS on the drift-boat!) to navigate. :o
When it got light enough, we headed back towards the jetty where the minnows were all balled up. *The trout and birds were having a feeding frenzy!

It was cold, but here's one of my fish...

My wife's fish...

Here's another of mine...

The weather started to clear out and I caught some more...

The biggest of the day went 3.7 lbs...

Today was the most beautiful day I have seen at Eagle. *Not a cloud in the sky after the fog burned off and no or very little wind! :)

At Eagle, I ended up hooking 13 and landing 8. *We kept 3 for the BBQ. *All in all an excellent trip!!!

Very nice, and I'll bet it was cold at Eagle. Even in summer, the mornings are cold up there.

Great report as always PP. You always seem to find a way to get the two of you into the beauties. Looks like how we felt up at Sorensons Sunday. [smiley=cold.gif]
With the added moisture of the fog I am sure that chill went straight to the bone.
Keep those trip reports coming for those of us that still haven't had a chance to go up that way this year.
