I have only been here once. I was fishing for trout at the end of the season one day and BAM... nothing. Water was super clear and I saw bass moving back and fourth. I just wanna know when the locals are going to be hitting this soon for fall trout. Also I have heard nothing on kitties. Oh well.......I wan't to fish this place. :)

Ugbomb, when I use to fish Shadow Cliffs, I had better Luck at the
last Dock. There's a hole off the left hand corner about 50 feet out
that produced some nice Trout. A simple floating rig with about an
18 to 24 inch leader to get you off the bottom, Power Bait or a worm
and a mini marshmellow, ( man those were the days ) should do.....
Just don't forget the Scent, usually Anise, or Trout Gravy worked.

Good Luck,

CountryBoy, There ARE some BIG TROUT in Shadow Cliffs, but you
stand a better chance of getting them when you TROLL..................
The more water you can cover, the better....................

I used to fish S.C. a lot during the winter months for trout floating crawlers with a mallow off the bottom, Stanley side by the fence and just past the first 2 docks to the south. When I got a boat we'd anchor off the Stanley side 50 yards off shore buy a bunch off rocks meant to hold the erosion in check. We usually did pretty well with an occasionl cat to 5#'s, I couldn't tell you how to target the cats though.
And no we never used PB, always crawlers. ;)
I've trolled it a few times using flashers and a crawler with fair success.

JohnB, for some reason Flashers seem to spook the Fish at this
lake. They like their offering's NAKED.........................

You're probably right about the flashers and Naked.....or is that redundant. ;) :D ;D ;D

Actually I liked anchoring better than trolling due to the size of the lake and the number of boats. I often felt that I couldn't get back far enough from the boat to be effective while doing a ballet with the other boats, I'll admit that I don't have much patience for that.

I have trolled gold Kastmasters with great success. Also banked it in the panhandle with PB and had good luck. Also still fished in the boat near the snack shack (swimming area) My step dad had a 4 lb trout take the rod out of his hand :'( and I got lucky enough to catch the line with my other rod. ;D so we ended up getting both the fish and the rod back. what luck!
