My son and I went to Eagle Lake for a few days and had another great trip. *My son had asked to fish on a pontoon boat so I had set up a trip with guide Ron Beck. *He uses a pontoon boat and bobber fishes. *I've never bobber fished at Eagle. *Thursday morning we cruised out at 4 am and our first stop was north of Eagles nest. *Lines were set and five minutes later we had our first fish. *It didn't take long and we had five keepers. *We then moved to shrimp island and picked up our last keeper and were off the water by 7 am. *Bobber fishing, productive yes, but not my cup of tea. *Friday we launched my boat and headed to shrimp island. *We had two limits by 7:20, fish to 3 lbs caught tolling. *Saturday we took a road trip to Medicine Lake and we caught 10 of the smallest brookies I have ever caught. *Saturday afternoon we headed down to the CIFFI Project Eagle Lake Fundraiser at Eagle Lake Marina on the south end of the lake. *Sep and local guides gave mini-seminars on what was working and what was not. *Lots of tackle was given away and they had a great raffle. *Sunday morning, my son and I fished with a friend of mine and his 5 yr old son. *At 3:30 in the morning, This little guy couldn't wait to catch a fish. *At 5 am we got our first hook up and it was a nice 3.5lb ELT. *This little guy went nuts. *We hooked 7 more healthy, fat ELT and we were back at Spalding by 8am. *Monday we packed it up and headed home. *It was a great weekend. *The weather was 41-85 degrees. *Our best depth was 30'. *Our best lure was a red dog lure and Goldilocks followed by a amber grub. *Trolling speed 1.4-1.7 *Water temperature was 68-70 degrees and trying to revive a fish after putting up a good fight is impossible. *Best to just keep what you catch.http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/8185/img0755450x338bi4.jpghttp://img511.imageshack.us/img511/3069/img0756450x338nf7.jpghttp://img143.imageshack.us/img143/7773/img0759450x338fv9.jpghttp://img139.imageshack.us/img139/8925/img0763450x338ji9.jpghttp://img76.imageshack.us/img76/6383/img0768450x338dg1.jpg

Scott R,

Thanks for the report. I'm heading up with the family July 18. Sounds like the fish are heading down to deeper water's. When fishing with Ron Beck how deep was he bobber fishing?

Thanks for the great report! Mrs Digger and myself were there as well thru the 3rd to the 7th. Not much to add, are fishing was great as well. Heck even my pictures are very much the same.
I looked for stars all weekend and only saw one set on a white ford f250 with a camper shell.

Holly and I along with the rest of the crew were there the 4th, 5th and 6th. The best part of the weekend of the bbq ribeye steak dinner Saturday night. You'll notice 1 thing missing from our pics :(

I think we might have done better if this pic had been taken while we were on the water
