all the reports i have read said the truckee is fishing very slow, but not for me and my buddies. *;) here are 2 of the recent nice fish i've pulled out of there. *a 21" brown and a 22"er that looks to me to be a cutbow. *we have also caught several 18"+ rainbows, and a 6.3 lb brown. *this is strange bacause i never can seem to catch ANY fish of this size in the summer, maybe all the planters get in the way. *i dont think i'll be fishing pyramid any time soon...

sorry, the pics got cut off, i dont know how to fix it. :-[http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s162/dylankesner/truckeefatties.jpg

That's a male Lahontan cutthroat in eclipse. That means that he wasn't going to spawn this year. His name is Bob, BTW. ;) ;D

Lower Truckee, right? ;)

Very nice indeed. They look in good shape for this time of year. The nice days seem to have them moving.

thanks dr., and thanks Bob ;D

oh, and they did come from the general reno area. i dont think the place is critical, but the type of water. this section was very deep and slow, you have to dredge the bottom this time of year.

The specific area isn't important. No one should feel obliged to give away their spots. It's just that I have been telling people for years that the biologists have been sampling the greatest number of large trout in the lower Truckee. Yet very few people either fish there or know how to catch them in those deeper runs.
