How do you rig a grub for trolling behind a dodger? Do you use a jig head or a plain hook? If you use a plain hook do you thread the grub on the hook or hook the grub drop shot fashion?

hi bigbill....welcome to the fishsniffer, thoughts from el dorado for trolled grubs (for trout) include rigging the grub (hook only) with the curly tail curving in the same direction as the hook. *i insert the grub and thread only enough so the hook point comes out in the ribs before the tail starts. the key for me has been to rig the grub so it is STRAIGHT, no curves in the body, and keep hook centered through body of grub so it doesnt roll when trolled, it needs to swim.

there are a couple other ways to rig grubs for bass or panfish.

i'm a new guy here too, i'm sure other opionions may vary

good luck.

edited post.....i forgot to mention, i like to use straight eye hooks. if you use bent eye hooks, you'll need to snell the hook so it pulls straight.
