View Full Version : Camanche 11/30

I fished with Repogolfer today. *We launched at the north shore ramp at 7 this AM and headed for the dam. *Boy is this lake low. *I've never seen so many islands and trees where there used to be water. :o *We started at the dam and trolled the buoy line for a couple hours. *We picked up one trout right away on a orange grub trolled on lead core with 2 colors in the water. *After a while we trolled over to Big Hat Island and scored another trout on a firetiger grub at 10 feet. *After that is was slim pickens. :( *Eventually we made our way over to Little Hat Island and then back to the dam. *We marked very few fish, probably because they were on top. * We then headed up to the east end of the lake to give it a try. *We trolled all the way to the Mokaleme River bridge and graphed quite a few schools of fish at 10-20 feet but no takers. *About 2 PM we headed in with only 2 in the box. *We were in contact with some of the other fishermen on the water today (about 6 boats) and not many fish were caught. *The weather was brisk and the wind did come up to put a little chop ont the water. *The lake temp was 58 degrees. *We tried a little bit of everything we had in every color we brought. *The sun did shine on us and we had a good time despite the poor bite. *A few pics...................

The morning sky was worth the price of admission.

Repogolfer talking to the fish. *"Here fishy fishy".

Hat Island just keeps getting taller and taller.

The wind put a little chop on the water.

Here's where we fished.

The limit stick was not full today! :(

There was no line at the cleaning station.

Hat Island is looking like we need to rename it Top Hat Island. Well the stick isn't empty and it beat my day at work so I salute your good fortune at spending a Friday on the water fishing.

Thanks for the trip today Sam, nice going to see some new places. And I definitely seen all of Camanche today. Just think of it like this. If we were having a derby with the other fishermen today, we would of placed 2nd. So we know it just wasn't us. We sure did throw everything at them today. All kinds of colors, lures, grubs. Tried depths from 20 up, and different speeds. Thanks again for the trip.

Radio didn't come today so I guess I won't be installing it tomorrow. Guess I could still put up the antenna.

Hey Sam, Looks like a slow day. I sure wish the day was better for you two!!! At least now you know how to use the grubs. Looks like those fish might be right on the top with those kinds of temp. Well you know more now about that lake and next time, i know for sure you will get them. Well of to Melones in the morning. I will post something when i get back. On a search up river, Above the Parrots Ferry Bridge to find some nice Rainbows or maybe a Brown. Until tomorrow.

is your avator from lake shasta?

Threw me for a loop on that word, had to look it up. *The only thing that came up was this spelling.

av·a·tar *

Function: noun

1: the incarnation of a Hindu deity (as Vishnu)
2 a: an incarnation in human form b: an embodiment (as of a concept or philosophy) often in a person
3: a variant phase or version of a continuing basic entity
4: an electronic image that represents and is manipulated by a computer user (as in a computer game)

I'm guessing you mean #4.

Mine from Union valley, and I believe Sam's is from Berryessa.

Thanks for the report Sam and Jon. Sounds like you gave it good try, can't blame it on the full moon this week. Well, you got the boat washed off. See you on the water soon.
