Does anyone know of a place to go trout fishing off the bank or river near healdsburg? I would like to take my girl out for a few hours in between the casino and winery tours.. MY first....
Looks like Lake Sonoma is for Bass, crappie, etc...

Lake Sonoma has a variety of catchable fish including steelhead, there is also a hatchery you can tour.
You could try the Russian River since you are going to be real close to it.
Check out the 'features' top left of the page for more information and maps of the river.
Good luck.

Lake Sonoma has a population of steelhead but it's not very easy to fish from shore, you realy need a boat. You might check with the marina and see if they have rental fishing boats.
It's a bit early for the steelhead run on the Russian river and there aren't any resident trout in the river (people occasionally catch the steelhead and salmon smolts thinking they are small rainbows). You might check with Western Sports shop in Santa Rosa to see if there is an early run in the river because of the rain we had in October.
