I launched out of Capell at 7 this AM. *I went up to the ranch house and began trolling.......targeting koks. *Green Wild Thing and green Humdinger and pink butt 4/0 dodger in front of a pink and *white hoochie at 1.1 to 1.5 mph at 35 an 45 ft. *I trolled up to the Big Island and then down to Goat Island over the course of about 3 hours verying depths and setups. *Zip!! :-[ * Graphed some fish at the Big Island at 50 feet *but no takers. * I moved towards Skiers Cove and tried shad at 55-90 feet and mixed up other combos. *I even ran a Rapala on a topline for "0". *A few people were picking up 1 or 2 and some *reported good limits but you had to really work for them today. :o *Water was 61-69 degrees with about 10 foot visibility and with the exception of a little chop early in the AM, was smooth as a babys butt. *I called it quits at about 2 PM. *Nice to see you out there T-Man. *I hope you did OK at the dam. *A few pics....

It was so slow that I talked to this stow-away fly for a while to kill some time.

The bait was safe from being eaten in this massive bait-ball today.*

If you let your downrigger down too fast with ball trolls, a pair of *wire snips works great to cut it all apart.

I went through all this stuff to no avail :(..

The water was just like glass.

I fished everywhere on this map.......the fish didn't like me today.

Looks like a great day to me. *I think we were just getting too spoiled with the king limits. *I'm betting the koke fishing will be hot next week. *Great report.

Now that is what I call an honest report. You have to post the bad reports as well as the good reports. Thanks for fishing for all of us who have to work. There will be better days to come, mark my work on that. It won't be long, and you will be holding up limits on nice fat kokes while the rest of us are working. Stay with it Sam, those kokes can't hide forever.

At least you got out and enjoyed the water. Thanks for the report.

A slow fishing report is a good report when you put in all those pics for us to enjoy!

Sounds like a little calm befor the storm. Hopefully this little bit of warm weather will help change things. I'll be out Saturday afternoon and all day Suday. Did you go north of the island at all? We have been getting some south wind.

04-27-2007, 07:35 AM
No. I fished the east side of the Big Island then headed south to Goat Island. I had north wind the first hour or so and I was thinking I hope it subsides before getting too choppy. Then it just layed down and got really calm. Good luck this weekend.

Alright well that explains it. I will give you a shout out after this weekend and let you know how it goes.

how slow was that? We have all had those days too; at least you got more knot tying experience. Is it a full moon? blame it if it is.

Thanks for the honest report. Those pesky kokes are really hard to find so far. We all got spoiled there for @ a month. If anyone will get them figured out it will be you (and Rod Bender!)

All I can say is....you just need more luresssssssss! ;D

I wonder if the trout fishing will improve near the dam. They were supposed to release the pen trout on Wednesday of this week.

It's not more lures we need but a better way to store and organize our arsinal, I have bought just about every type but somebody needs to come up with something better.
sorry didn't intend to jump the thread.
