View Full Version : RS skunk is GONE......

After 4 trips out there with the kayak during the last 5 weekends, we finally got the skunk off at Rancho Seco. Saw some bankers catching a few by the boat launch but nobody floating was doing anything. Then we noticed some boats at the west EAST end and paddled on down there. After drowning a wooly bugger for awhile, I told my oldest son we were switchin' to a KM. Third cast and WHAM. He goes all excited and after a nice battle, he lands his first real fish. (those crappie and blue gill at Clear Lake don't count) 17.5 inches and 3.2 lbs.

Here's the proud angler:

Let's see:

New Kayak.....................$750
Kayak Stuff....................$250
That ear-to-ear grin......PRICELESS

Great deskunking. I saw the two of you out on two of those weekends. I think that I'm going to run over tomorrow and give it a run. Went to Melones today as a first timer but Seco is so close to home. Nice to see there si still more than just the little planters that they put in this week.

Note...I corrected our catch zone. We were at the EAST end. There were 5-6 different boats/toons and all seemd to be catching nice fish.

Good luck.

We paddle a mango-colored Wilderness Systems Tarpon 130T. Usually it's me and my two boys, but grandpa is over for the holidays and so he had one boy banking it while I paddled around with the other.

Back from seco, caught 2 little guys and set them free and the is little 14" er that i had to keep. He swallowed the fly so deep I couldn't get it out till I got home and cut him open.
In person it has a distictive purple hue to it.
When I came in from the lake and was loading up a guy on the pier next to the small south ramp landed one on nightcrawler / PB combo that had to be 3 lb at least. Beautiful color on his it looked like an Amador Donaldson strain. Wish I had taken the camera with me to post a pitcure of that one.

Hey where is that Arcadia sweat shirt from?

It's not an Arcadia sweatshirt. It's from his school. And he didn't want to wash it. He wanted to wear it proudly back to school, fish smell and all. But since he's off for 2 weeks, there was no way mama was lettin' that thing ripen for 2 weeks.
