Got on the water about 8:30, after a nice breakfast....Fueled up for the day.
Wanted to fish south to the Nets, but the wind *prevented that. We did start south , but it was too tough to fight the wind. We turned around & trolled north with the wind.
Caught 28 today, mostly on Lymans. These are the lures we caught fish on
Here is the big fish of the day, what a chunk this guy was, weighed 4.15 & was 23 1/2" Beautiful fish!
The wind died down about 11 or so, turned out to be a real nice afternoon.

Hi Fernley Tim,

How fast were you going for those apexes?

10-12-2006, 11:49 AM
Just stop at Mark Fore and Strike to get those Lyman's.

10-12-2006, 12:07 PM
Do they get about $14 for them? >:(

You need to troll Apexes at least 2.6 mph. I stick the rod tip in the water and watch the action. They should role over about every 15 sec. If they don't, adjust your speed. Some Apexes tend to run to one side like a flatfish that is trolled too fast. They don't catch many fish when they do that. The problem comes from the knot that's tied to the hook. Either trim the knot or try putting a small bead on top of the knot. The lure should run to both sides and turn over when it's running right.

Most people who have trouble catching fish with Apexes do not pay attention to these things. Once you have one working right and you are catching fish, remember how that lure looked running in the water.
