Went to Pine Flat Reservoir on Sat. after the fog burned off. Didn't start fishing until about 10:30 am. Trolled around the main lake and up into the Kings River Arm for several hours with no luck. Finally decided to try in some coves. Found one cove with bait fish and trout stacked up from the surface down to about 45'. Picked up a limit in about an hour with four small ones in the 12"-13" range and one nice one about 17". Most fish were caught in top 15' using my downriggers with about 200' of line out and either CD5&CD7 shad Rapalas or shad Excels. Trick was to troll fast and vary the lure speed by doing figure eights. Most hits came on the change of speed. Went back Sun. morning to the same cove with the same results and an easy limit of trout in the 13"-14" range. Saw bigger fish deep on the sonar, but couldn't get them to hit. Find the balls of baitfish & you will find the trout. It looks like with the cooler water (59 degrees surface temp) that the trout are pushing them into the coves.

Pine Flat can be a fun lake when it turns over, but usually there's no water left ::)My Daughters live in Clovis and we sometimes hit it in the fall. Good report ;D
