Fished Pyramid with BigB and Hinrid yesterday. Mickey/Hammer, Vacaville Bob, and Ron Gonefishin were out there as well. The surface temperature was 57 degrees and the weather was drop dead gorgeous! We tried to target the larger fish by concentrating on the shallows, points, and ledges. We didn't get any big ones, but we ended up with 15 fish with at least 5 in the 4-5 lb class. 3 were taken by jigging at the Needles. The rest of the fish came on Lymans, StingKings, and spoons. The green/white 4" Lyman was probably the best lure of the day.

There were fish pretty much all over the place including a bunch right on either side of Pelican Point as Make reported. We did not go after the suspended fish, but according to the amount of crowing that Mickey was doing on the radio, it was a pretty consistent bite. They said they got at least one 27" fish. The east side has finally picked up again, but we did not fish over there. Lots of weeds at the north end inhibited trolling in some of the better areas, but that could change with a wind shift.

The average size of the fish seems to be back to what we were catching last year and while they were not footballs, they were all in good condition. All and all a so-so trip. But with the great weather and good company, I'd give it 5 stars. There aren't many places where so-so is a 15 fish day with nothing under 18". This weekend should be great for everyone heading out there!

Thanks for the invite Doc! *I had a great time with you and Hinrid. Even now I still do not feel guilty about taking yesterday off to go fishing. How about you?

Here is Doc with one of his fish. *It is one hugh fish, notice the expression on his face.

I talked to Mickey right after he left your house (ie, I stopped him on the highway). *He said that they had a pretty good day on the east side of the lake.

11-10-2005, 06:56 PM
Hammer and I had what Doc would call an alright day on the east side. We fished from 7:30 to 11:30 and caught 12. Three of them 26"s and fat and sassy ;D As soon as I can download the pic's I'll give posting them a try. Yesterday was a sweet day,but today was even better. A 5 star two days. Not as many fish on the east side but that's where we found the bigger ones. Ron was a little hung over today, I guess he had more fun last night then we did ;) It sure was fun ribbing him today ;D ;D ;D Watermelon Sting King was the hot lure today ;) It was great to see you today Ken, nice house and it has places for all your toys 8) very cool ;D And yes, BigB flipped a U-Turn just to pull us over, everybody driveing by thought we were the bad guys ::) ;D ;D

11-10-2005, 07:18 PM
Good clear report, Mickey. ;D You hardly need pictures with that report, I can see the whole thing. 8) But I'll be glad to see the pictures anyway. Especially if you and Hammer are holding the fish like Doc - that's not how he was telling us how to do it last year for a photo-op. Maybe it's a new technique. ::)

11-10-2005, 07:21 PM
Did a little fly fishing at the "nets" Thur. The fish are starting to come into the area. 7 to 10 or earlier is the best time so far. All fish c/o dark flys. A guy next to me had a couple on white. Lots of "window" fish with a nice 26" female @ 9:30. Looks like I will have to pot the 17ft in the water & get serious.....

11-10-2005, 07:28 PM
If yesterday was a drop dead gorgeous day then today was a triple drop dead gorgeous day......man what a beauty. 8)

Fished warrior in the morning with limited success, caught 6 that were all slot fish.

I was trolling back to the ramp about 3:30 or so; just after I passed Spider Point I put on a J9 orange broken back Rapala & put it down 10 feet. At the north end of Windless bay I had a terrific hit, fish took line right away.....first thought 10 pounder!
It turned out to be a nice 23 inch male, in his fall colors & what a fighter. Took me at least 5 minutes to get him in, I was almost as tired as the fish was ;D
I got set up again & continued toward the ramp in 25 feet of water.....bang another hook up, this guy didn't take line but I knew it was a good fish. The fish stayed down & took me around the boat 3 times, finally got it up, he was a beautiful 26" male. He wore me out more than the last one did...man do these guys fight hard!
I got set up again & didn't troll 100 feet when I had another good fish on, had it for a couple of minutes then slack like....That was it, trolled through the spot several more times but nothing.
So the jinx is off Doc!!
Off to Eagle in the morning.... ;D ;D

I'm glad to hear that everybody had a good time (one way or another Ron ;D). See Bob, there are some big fish in Pyramid. ;)

That picture of me was not a posed photo opp. That was a candid shot by BigB with the barb of a 1/0 Siwash going into my finger. :P

I love November on that Lake. The weather can be iffy, but if you hit the right days it is just magical. The islands looked as if they were floating in the air. The sun going down over the mountains when you're trolling in glass calm water with fish rolling around you is really special. Oh yeah, the fishing is the best this month as well.

11-10-2005, 08:26 PM
I love it Vacaville Bob, good report. Great picture. I'll bet Doc is chewing his lip, thinking about how to get back at Big B. :D Wish I was there.

11-10-2005, 08:53 PM

Looks like Buffy takes a good picture. Glad to see that the jinx is off.

11-10-2005, 09:00 PM
Buffy is Bob's Cocker Spaniel. A very well trained dog. ;D

Actually, Bob is a computer guy. He probably had a robotic camera set up that that took the picture with laser beams.

11-10-2005, 09:29 PM
Not Buffy or laser beams......Just grab the first person you see & ask "Would you take my picture with this beautiful fish" :D

I have been working with Buffy showing her how to zoom in on the subject. She likes that she can see her shots on the digital camera right away... ;D ;D ;D

11-11-2005, 06:02 AM
Good job VVBob, I was worried about you Weds, glad you got the skunk off ;) and you did it in a big way ;D Hope you do well at Eagle, seems the weather is going to hold for you 8)

11-11-2005, 06:32 AM
Thanks Mickey. I called you guys several times, but if you were on the east side you were out of range of my hand held. Guess I'm gonna have to get one of the powerful radio's with the bigggg white antenna ;D ;D

I'll post & let you guys know how the fishing is at Eagle 8)

11-11-2005, 10:59 AM
I'm jealous.....nice reports guys...

The lake looks like a mirror :D

Nice fish all.... ;)

11-11-2005, 02:51 PM
Great stories, awesome pics. Thanks guys. I will finally get a Pyramid trip in next weekend. Hope the weather and bite holds...Cheers, BC.

11-11-2005, 03:47 PM
Hope I sized these right ::) But here's a few fish pictures to look at ;D

11-11-2005, 04:11 PM
And here's a few more for your viewing pleasure ;D

11-11-2005, 04:34 PM
You did an excellent job on the second set of pictures, but the first set is 4 Little boxes with a red x ......is there a problem Houston??? ;D ;D ;D

11-11-2005, 06:15 PM
Beautiful last picture. Well done. With beauty like that it makes a person feel part of something much larger.

11-11-2005, 06:19 PM
I fixed it, look again ;)

11-11-2005, 06:29 PM
Thanks Dennis, but I already re-posted them, so go back and modify your post so they aren't there twice, and you left one out anyway, the biggest one ;D ;D ;D

11-11-2005, 06:38 PM
Now that's what I call some good photos - Good job Mickey and Hammer (I know Hammer took a couple of those shots ;)). The pictures of fish and happy fishermen are the big part of the show, but the photos of what's-going-on-around-you during the day on the water is really what it's all about. I love the shots of the pyramid. That's exactly what you see - depending what side of it you're fishing. 8)

11-11-2005, 07:06 PM
Yeah Frank you're right, he took all the pictures of my fish ;) and the one of the sunrise, I took the shots of the Pyramid ;D notice how you can't see my head in one of the fish pictures? that's the kind of pictures he takes ::) ;D ;D

11-11-2005, 07:11 PM
Nice pics , it looks like another fun day at Pyramid! Always action and always nice fish , I think I am a tad bit jealous!

11-11-2005, 07:19 PM
Give Hammer some credit, Mickey. He waited 'till you got your arms extended before he took the picture. 8)

11-11-2005, 07:21 PM
Nice pics Mickey....not to say anything about the fish ::) ;) ;D

more screensavers ;D ;D

11-11-2005, 08:29 PM
I knew you could do it.....Nice fish guys!!
Kinda makes me wish you would have answered my calls.....Mickey, Hammer..... this is VVbob.....are you out there??? ??? ??? ??? ? silence.......

11-11-2005, 09:09 PM

11-11-2005, 09:14 PM
You noticed that too, huh Frank! i think that it is a natural reflex for Mickey, when there is a fish in his hands and a camera in front of him. Notice how he holds in his stomach when he knows that his picture is being taken. :)

11-12-2005, 06:44 AM
That is a rattle trap, when Hammer put it out he caught a fish right away, it had me digging in my tackle box ;D That was the only one he caught on it. ::) BigB, that picture is of Hammer not me ??? he's way fatter than me :-X

11-12-2005, 07:13 AM
Great pictures guys..... Can't wait to get back up there

11-12-2005, 02:00 PM
I have used the plastic J-plugs.... What about these new wood Lyman's. What trolling speed do you use with them?
Do you have to go faster than 1.5 mph? Thanks for any help..... just curious.

11-12-2005, 03:43 PM
Mr Ed, the faster you go the better they dance, I usually troll around 2.5 and goose it once in a while and do a lot of turns, all our fish the last time were caught on a sharp turn, so we did sharp turns all day ;) The Lymans will troll good up to and over 5 miles an hour.

Hey guys,

Sorry for the late post but we had a great time last Wed. & Thurs..at Pyramid. Here are a few of the fish we caught. As usual my daughter Sarah caught the biggest fish at 26.5", mine was 25-3/4" and
Sarah’s friend caught a 24.5". We didn't slaughter the fish but the quality was great. We caught our biggest fishing around Pyramid rock using watermelon and assorted apexes, in 25-35 feet of water.
Also on Thurs. Mickey called on the radio and said they were in Anderson bay trolling in 20-40 feet close to shore down 12 feet and were picking up some big fish. So we joined up with them and caught several more nice fish.

Anyway, it was good to get back out and fishing pyramid at its best.

Take care and good luck...Ron
