A buddy of mine was using salmon roe to catch cutbows at Amador lake. I did not see anything in the regs book, but I might be missing something, is this legal?. Any info is appreciated.

Can you say "Balls of Fire with a skin around it?"

I've never come across anything that would indicate that using roe at Amador is illegal. Furthermore, it's been my experience that at times roe can be the best best in getting bit out there.

Along those lines, if you catch any female trout from there, I encourage you to cure the roe, even if the eggs are loose singles and use it for bait, despite the eggs seeming somewhat small. If you cure singles, make roe bags. If you have some on a skein, that is a bit less trouble, no doubt. It sounds kind of odd, curing trout eggs, but it does work out for those fish out there, in my experience.

The choice of cure is up to you, although I've used Pro Glow or Pro Cure Red Hot Double-Stuff. In either case, I use the "simplified" technique described on the product instructions.

Give it a try!
