A buddy and I fished Caples from dawn to dusk on Saturday trying to beat the heat in the valley. The winds were blowing extremely hard all day. Caught and released 25+ fish from the spillway. Fish were hitting anything we threw at them- PB, worms, kastmasters (gold & silver) and roostertails (black and white). Caught one trout that was tagged by the DFG for $10. Awesome day…

Sounds like a fun day even with the wind, any size to the one's you caught? A 10.00 fish is always a plus, it will only take 3+ months to collect it ;D ;D

It usually takes me longer than that to just take it to DFG, then I can't remember where I got it from. I still have in my change jar that I have no idea where it came from :-/

Mostly 10" - 15" planters. However, there where 2 monster trout swimming around the spillway that I could see, but they didn't even take a second look at our bait.

Mickey, I fished Caples on 7/13 (Wed.) in the heat of the day. I caught 2 Rainbows about 12" and one nice 21 1/2" 3.5 lb. Brown Trout. Nice fish! I was trolling 20-30ft down with a black/gold Panther Martin. One fish was caught along the north shore and the Brown and other Rainbow at the east end. I was also trolling a countdown7 Rainbow Rapala, down maybe 20' but had no hits. Surface Temp was 67 and air had to be high 80's. Wind was 0 and an occ. 3 mph.
(by the way, I fished Upper Twin -Bridgeport for nada 7/12 in the eve. Wind was 8-16 mph. Monday I trolled Convict Lake for 6 C & R Rainbows and broke off one very large fish maybe 6+ lbs. It took off and ran so quickly with my spool OPEN and snapped my line.)
