Gnap picked my boy and me up at the house at 6:30.. after a quick stop at the Donut Shop... we were on the way.
I dont remember what time we got there, But as we were driving in we could see the cars and trucks lined up on the roads. We got parked and headed to the meadow. No good, spot taken. So we started to head back and then dropped down to the first open spot on the bank.

As Gnap was rigging up I made 2 casts with a spinner bait. the second one this bass could'nt resist.

Stuck around for a while and with no other bites we bailed on that spot and moved closer to the dam on the north side of the lake.

within the first couple mins I got and hit and landed the first.
the old mini marshmallow was the hot bait today..and we passed the rod bettween Joseph and I for most of the day.

Kevin here holding one of Joseph's for a pic.

Kevin was getting a little disgusted that we had all the action, untill he used a marshmallow and casted into my honey hole... then he finally caught one of his own.

Towards 12:30 the wind started to come up. and we called it a day. Well... we let Kevin call it a day. He would'nt stop whining that we caught all the fish.. :nana:

After that we went to In-n-Out burger in town...

I've got the fish on brine as I type. They will be in the smoker tomorrow. I'll call you Kevin when they are done.

Great day Joe. I got my fish on white power eggs which I suggested you use and which produced your first trout. I also told you to let your castmaster sink to the bottom and then you caught 2 on lures but who is counting that is what I like about you, it's your attention to detail. The moral to the story is I put people on fish and I can't put myself on fish and when I don't catch anything I stomp around and pout all day. Beautiful weather, the pictures turned out great. Hopefully Joeseph has the bug now to and next time my niece can come and will ses how Team Nappers does against Team Fishbucket. Thanks for breakfast.

Great pics and report FishBucket! And good job Kevin on getting people on fish! You sure are a selfless fisherman who is successful on putting people on fish! Looks like a Fish-off is brewing between TEAM GNappers and Team FishBucket. Can't wait for this brawl to materialize. Until then FISH ON!

Fishbucket, doyou fillet those fish when you smoke them? Or just put the whole gutted fish in? And how long do you smoke for?

they can be smoked whole.. not as good a flavor though.the skin keeps it from penetrating, But it will be eatable.
I filet them out. gets more flavor in and takes less to smoke. Thin filets maybe go in 6-8 hrs. depends on the heat. some of the thicker Salmon Filets go 12-14 hrs.
I also only use 2-3 pans of smoke in the beginning.. to much smoke and it give it a bitter lemon flavor..

thanks bucket, i know what you mean about to much smoke i think thats been one of my problems.. I just have a little chief, is that what you got? I guess theyre good smokers... so for thinner trout fillets you smoke 2-3 pans of chips and then let burn out for a couple hours?? and then a few more pans, and then let burn out for a while, and then a few more pans.. is that how you do it??

Mine's a little Chief too.
I do 2-3 pans right in the beginning..(when I rack the fish I plug in and start one pan, when the racked fish is dry I put in the smoker and shake out hald the pan and refill with fresh wood, thats my first pan). then thats it. let it run for 6-12 hrs. depending.

Got one of those barrel barbeque/smoker deals with a cylinder vent. I brine mine 8 hours in terriaki-brown sugar marinade. Then I start the cues and when white I put on soaked wood chips. I also put a piece of oak in to keep the fire going and then I don't have to add more charcoal. All this smoking talk has made me hungry so I will be out there tommorow.
