I fished pine mountain lake this weekend and got two trout. I rented a boat with my parents and had a trolling flashers with 3 oz of weight about 5 ft in front of the setup, behind the flashers was a factory rigged hook with two red power balls and a worm, i had the setup dangling below the boat and we were drifintg fishing the shore for bass with lures, the trolling line wasnt even a diagonal, it washanging nearly vertical and all of a sudden the pole falls to the side, so i quickly grab it up and set it, just in case, but i thought the odds of actually having something was low, but low and behold i feel a tug back! i reel it in and i see color... and then i can recognize it! its a trout!! the first trout i caught at this lake of all the 5 other times i fished, never a trout! So needless to say i was excited!, we fished for another 2.5 hrs moving around the lake, doin ga little trolling and a little drifting. We spot another boat trolling and they get a hookup but they lose it due to a botched net job so i say "we need to troll" and our time was almost up with the boat rental, so we troll around the lake and on the way back im holding my rod and i feel a tug tug tug and i yell, i got one!! i got a fish!! so my dad manuevers the boat into a good position and about 25 ft away we can see the trout near the surface and its a fatty!, i fiddle with the drag and eventually get it in, and it was a CHUBBO!! they were both 17 inches long and the second one was a fatty!, these were some of the biggest trout i have caught in a long time, i was very excited to see some nice trout come out of this lake FINALLY after how long i had been trying to fish it.

It seems when you begin to fish a new lake you need to almost 'learn' the lake as all lakes are different, learn where the fish are, what they'll hit on, etc etc

Also, i cut their stomachs open and they were FULL of bugs, TONS of bugs in their stomach so they must have been feasting on bugs since it was just a full moon, i also found a fish in the stomach too but the skin was decayed and i couldnt tell what kind, i saw a bunch of small bluegill bass and trouts so it could have been either of those, all of them would have been small enough for this trout to eat.

Anywho, ONTO the pictures!!

Thanks for the report.
I was up at Pine Mountain Lake over the long weekend too. I heard they planted some trout right before the long weekend. I only got to fishing for 1 hours from shore and didn't get any bite. I did see some fish being caught around Dunns beach area.

Thanks guys, yeah fishing from shore can be difficult there because the lake is so deep, i havent caught any trout from shore but i've only fished there about 5-7 times. If you go again try fishing the community center, not the marina or dunn ct, and cast to the right toward the tulies, there are fatty bass and a bunch more of bluegills that size in that area too.

Also, can someone tell me what kind of blue gill these are? or are they not even blue gills? are they sunfish? Thanks guys!
