View Full Version : New breakthrough for "Rockfishing depression"

*I've been bent out of shape about the government pimps closing the Rockfish'n a month early... *So, I figured I'd hunker-down in the Sloughs and get the Striper thing going strong. That was doing pretty good but, I figured I needed something new. So, my buddies (Steve and Rick) and I wanted to do something we never did before... So, we flipped a coin and Sausalito came up. So, we took off for the ramp and gave a Salmon/Halibut combo a try. Trolling for Salmon didn't turn anything up around California City so, we went mooch'n around Angle Island... *I caught my first Halibut!!!!! *That was fun! I didn't even measure the dang thing... *I know it was over 22". It was bigger than the other one that was onboard and measured at 24". *Maybe... 26,28,30,32,34,36,38,40,42,44,46,48. (oh... *sorry)
*That sure was fun... *I'm usually stuck in my usual fish'n stuff... *So, it was really a treat to try something else... *Gonna do it again Saturday.

Congratulations, that's a beauty! That'll certainly help fight the rockfishing blues. Maybe give sturgeon a go while your at it in the Slough?
