Well have been waiting for everything to lock up and sure enough by the weekend it did.. Only went out this morning and for the last wo days I went and Tuddled around in Tahoe.. So with the snow sticking and slow water locking up not to mention the gates for Cave Rock where closed today.. Cheep #$%^&#(! I decided to load up feeder Geese Decoys and a couple no head feeder mallards to through into the steamy water.. Its almost like taking a Bear a pound of honey.. In these conditions with no sun the last couple days and cold temps and Heavy snow that lays down fluffy..Well thats enough to make it look like a Baby's arm holding a Bisket... Conditions like this are what dreams are made of.. So with all this porn talk I think its about time for the porno details.. It goes like this! Arrive at Hot Spring to find steam so thick coming from the canal you couldn"t see the water.. Threw a couple boards in to raise water level real quick and walla I have a hot puddle... So I put twenty fullbody feeders right next to one anther.. Almost on top of each other.. Off the tail of that I plot five no head feeders!!! With no wind I set the Blind with snow cover ten feet from the scene.. Well me and the lab hop in the blind with thirty minutes to spare.. Snow picks up then lets off then repeats all over again. One minute before Shooting time Five big Mallards Lock and Land.. With this low low light they were allowed to stay till twenty minutes past time when I sent the Flushing Machine. Two GreenHeads and three Hens come straight up.. Pull!! One GreenHead then one Quick pump I have the Second. Lab Comes back with two One Drake and Hen... Okay Lab comes back on second retrieve other drake.. OOOppss!!!!!! I geuss they all look the same with no feathers.. Well an hour or so passes by and here come a herd of geese... At least tweny plus flocks with head counts five to thrity or even more per flock... I let at least Sixty of those land in front of me, Behind me, both sides.. Just flat out all over me.. I take a deep breath and made all three Shots count.. What an expreince.. Its those days that you wished you had someone else there to witness and or tape.. When I pulled all I heard was Honking no Gun.. Enjoy the Pics. Maybe one last good round at the Hot Spring will be in order before season ends!!!

Looks like a good day, nothing wrong with making the bird/neighbors mad:krzyhunter4ez: just as long as you make things all better by inviting them over for dinner:picnic1::bbq1:

They (the birds) caught on after coming over for dinner every Wednesday since season began. I have been trying to come over to their house for dinner, but for some reason they just won't let me, so I figured I would meet them in the middle of the hot tub!!! Sure enough the hot tub being a part of the picture, was like a sign saying "Party over here"!!!

I bet it is.

If it gets cold enough here in the valley it will freeze up some of the water where I hunt. It's rare, but fun. Last time I broke ice was up at Tule Lake, it was bout 1/2" thick. Crazy sound in a boat, break'n ice, best part was when we hit a bird, winged or stoned, that bird was stuck when it hit the ice, they would make a perfect hole in the ice and stick there.

The next morning, I couldn't lift the blind off the boat. It had froze that night, well I ripped it to shreds trying to lift it. We still managed to do some population control.

Great report and pics. A triple on honkers would just be awesome!! The refuge has been decent to me this year. Lately the Gadwall seem to have taken center stage as I am seeing tons of them. Highlight for me this year is my dog found his first cripple. (This is his second season) Went for a walk at Gray Lodge when things slowed down, dog starts going crazy, plows into the bushes and chases down a hen woody. Not as exciting as triple on honkers, but I am a proud daddy!! Good luck the rest of the season.
