View Full Version : The Flat Pre-Fish

Fisherwally, TallKev and I fished The Flat today in preparation of next Saturdays KP Trout Derby. Beautiful day....warm.....some fish, but only a singleton Trout. We didn't fish where we know they're catching Trout (and they were), because we wanted to find an area that wouldn't be real busy next week. Had a problem keeping the Kings off the hooks. They ranged 15" to 18" and all were released to mature. Here's a couple of pics of one King we nailed outside the Dam, and I mean WE! Fisherwally and I both hooked this guy, with a starboard rod and a port rod. The larger spoon is one of my own in the 5" class and the other spoon is one of those store bought things.
Total take for the day was one Trout @ a chunky 14" and 5 Kings, one Whiskerfish and a lone Bass. We'll need to do better next week. Maybe I should have posted this on the 'Potpourri' Forum.

Really like the new Scotty Orca rod holders.

It's never busy on a Monday and now is a great time to bank fish since the water is so close to the road. Pick a spot and bait up!

Do you have a 2 spoon license ?????

Netboy was off his game abit today but we did manage a few green kings.

Pre-fishing ONLY proves that NO TWO DAYS on any given body of water are the same :cheesy:

We earned a small check for 13th position. Was lots of fun. There is definitely a strange feeling while fishing a derby vs fishing jackpots. My next one will be in September.

It was so interesting how smooth everything went. I was impressed, intrigued, and colder than heck.
