Hey guys. We venture out to Hensley Lake today from 11 to 5. Oh my goodness it was really windy. Should have stayed home but brave through it. Arrived at the first spot and the wind was blowing directly at us around 20 mph or so. After an hour, we decided to go try the swim beach across from us so the wind doesn't hit us face on. This decision awarded us as we threw out our first rod, we both got slam pretty good. We both reel in our first trout of the day. It was roughly 15-16 inch around 1.5-2 lbs on green powerbait.

After about an hour at the spot, the dfg ranger came and checked out our documentation. After we moved to the left a bit. We continue to get a lot of action. Landed 12 but kept 7 and safely released 5. All were between 13-16 inch. It was very difficult to tell if the bite was there or not as the wind was really blowing. I can't believe I saw some small aluminum boat out there braving it. It looks like an ocean out there.

Bait used was powerbait with green and rainbow being effective.

Hello crazyrfisher;

Congrats, looks like a good stringer of fish. I can't believe you braved that wind yesterday; just goes to show a fisherman's dedication. The wind in Clovis blew two folding awning covers on the roof of home next door, and our wind chimes drove my Wife nut's:seestars: all day! Hensley seems to be producing a few nice fish, I can't wait to try a few new spoon's I've been working on.

Good Fishing......... mgcrumster:Gone_fishing:

The swim area at Hensley is always productive for trouts. Good fishing out there!
