Just wanna talk about the smelt run in the fort bragg area for all them dip netters and thrownetters, we havent had much luck the past couple of years just wondering if anyone has noticed a decline in the poplulation as well. we go over in late june to do some diving every year.

I believe Oroville is asking for info on "Surf fish" or AKA "surf smelt"
and not the Jack smelt in the harbors we use for bait
Maybe this will help

yeah surf smelt we just call em surf fish delicious. we used to get them by the buckets but the buckets been comin up empty. http://wdfw.wa.gov/fish/forage/graphics/4smelt2.jpg

I remember catching them as a kid just North of Wages Creek, which is North of a little town called West Port. (N. Caifornia) First part of July....
We drove the roadway looking down off the cliffs until we could see them in the surf.

exactly where im talkin about. when i was a kid i could catch em with my bare hands. my dad used a homeade A-Frame and I learned to throw the hawiian style net.

I remember driving up the coast with you
Ovoville tell's me "NO really you can see smelt from the road just keep drivin"Ya right!
Where are all the smelt!
p.s.
used your wet suit to replace my zincs and damn I'm geting fat.
