View Full Version : Lake Chabot Shore

Looking to fish Lake Chabot for the first time from the shore sometime this week. Any advice on good spots/ how to access them would be much appreciated. I see there is a trail that surrounds the lake. Is this lake worth it or should I make a further drive from the peninsula to somewhere else for trout? Thanks in advance, will post results lateer this week.

The most popular spots at Chabot tend to be:

Indian Cove: 37.721709,-122.104438 - Google Maps (http://g.co/maps/a5nfp)
Raccoon Point: 37.721709,-122.104438 - Google Maps (http://g.co/maps/ea2hk)
The Burner: 37.721709,-122.104438 - Google Maps (http://g.co/maps/8pj5g)

I fished Chabot almost every weekend late last year, and had okay luck. The last several times I went out though I've been skunked (maybe the water level has something to do with it).

I agree, the water level has gone down a lot...I haven't fished it since the new year (haven't even been out fishing in 2012 :(...) but I went late in December and got 2 decent sized ones off of Alder Point.

It's hit or miss, and also, the water is pretty cold (I think about 40's right now is what they're reporting....) so the the trout may be less active.

Good luck though! You'll have a better shot of catching fish than me! haha

Thanks for the advice. Fished this morning from 7-11. Today was a miss. Had a couple quick bites on garlic fire bait but neither hooked on. Fished the west side of the lake in a couple different spots. Most people seemed to go to the east side. Maybe I'll try over there next time. Tried every color pb/fire bait I had, inflated crawlers and even a few lures just for the hell of it. Nothin to bring home. Still a good morning nonetheless, I'll get em next time.
