View Full Version : Melones Hates Me...

guess its because I've ignored her for a while, but anyway....

I went with Kyle Wise out to our local lake this morning. We met up with Slydog and Julie at the Tuttletown ramp. They chatted for a bit, then Slydog slips Kyle this big package of wild pig sausage.

We launch and head south, with partly cloudy skies with a wind blowing from the South, ( for a change) Kyle goes two up on me before I can even get my second rod in the water. One on a orange Apex, and the other on a MAG tackle green micro hootchie.

I tried to knock the first one off with the net, but it swam right in there anyway, despite my clumsy netmanship. Kyle seems a little miffed...

The bite seemed to die off, after the sun came up. Me, I kept changing lures and setups, but I had nothing they wanted. I spent the morning playing Net Boy and thinking about those dang sausages, in the cooler at my feet. Kyle added 2 more to the box, as I pondered why we didn't have a grill on the Head Hunters boat.

Again, Mag Tackle green hootchie, and a orange Apex, both colors I don't have. But, the netting went much better this time! That fish was full of eggs.

Finally, I noticed my outside rod bobbing a bit. I jumped up, grabbed it, and reeled in both of Kyles lines, and somehow missing my inside rod. I was running braid, and though I salvaged all the hardware, there was probably 300 feet of lines all woven together. :-[

Despite it all, we still had that sausage in the ice chest. So, we decided to call it a day, and head to Kyles house, and salvage the afternoon, by grilling those sausages up on Kyles Grill. I don't know if I'm proud, or embarrassed to say we ate every dang one of them, over the course of the next hour or so. They were every bit as good as I imagined them to be. So, in that regard, the trip was a total success. Awesome grilled wild boar sausage trumps a slow fishing day every time!

Thanks Kyle, it was fun and the BBQ was great!

Steve she wasn't very friendly today but managed to pull a few out of there. The after party was great though. Thanks for coming out. We'll work on getting you some green Mag Tackle micro hoochies. ;)

Way to work it guys! Glad you got out there even on a slow fishing day. We all know that is better than a great day at work. I hope to make Melones again soon.

Can't forget the sausage. These were a great way to end the day. One sausage per fish boated.

I don't know what is wrong with the camera for some reason it makes me out to be a villain. Lol

We worked hard for the few fish but we had a great time even thru the few mishaps.

Jon thanks for the kind words, working on getting a camera with a sence of humor. Lol

Jon, I think I was holding the camera upside down, :kermit: I can't get used to taking pictures with a telephone. Heck I usually press the wrong button, and then he has to "fix" what I did. When that happens, as it did in the first photo, he's thinking, "Man, my fishing buddy is such a dumb azzz!"
