I'm headed up this weekend. Last time I was there we went up 50 to MET to 88 to 395 to 108. Seems like a long way around. Would it be faster/easier to go down 99 to 108 and up that way? I'm planning on fishing the Pickle Meadows area. Thanks.

I usually go 99 to 108 when I go, but sonora pass is by far my favorite especially in the fall on the way back from Twin Lakes! That way you can fish that gorge section by the campground before dropping down to pickle meadows as well. Good Luck and let us know how you do!

50 to kingsberry grade follow to 88 (two stop signs/light on Nevada side), south 88 to Kimmerling Lane, first stop sign turn left one block just past the 7-11 (langley drive), follow langley to the 3rd stop sign, turn left, two stop signs road comes to a end, turn right, goes to 395 past a golf course. Easy stuff, PM me if your confused.......Jetspray

This is more or less the way (https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Sacramento,+CA&daddr=CA-108+E&hl=en&sll=38.342262,-119.593735&sspn=0.053249,0.091152&geocode=FUS1TAIdgCTC-Cn5l4OycsaagDHbfxl0qmofkg%3BFWovSQIdlAvg-A&oq=sacram&t=m&mra=ls&z=9) that Jetspray mentioned.

Insearchoffish mentioned this direction (https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Sacramento,+CA&daddr=38.1285955,-120.1026789+to:CA-108+E&hl=en&sll=38.244652,-120.558472&sspn=1.706214,2.91687&geocode=FUS1TAIdgCTC-Cn5l4OycsaagDHbfxl0qmofkg%3BFdPLRQId6mDX-ClDT1CzoDWXgDHRavWWcdWJZA%3BFWovSQIdlAvg-A&oq=sacram&mra=dpe&mrsp=1&sz=9&via=1&t=m&z=9)and is what I recommend for the shear reason of scenery. It is only 18 miles further this way. Hopefully you go very early or late and avoid traffic times. Just makes it nicer. Also read these directions if you take this route. You will be taking 99 to the 120 exit. Don't go all the way to the 108 exit.

Post pics and a report when you get back! :-)

I like heading east on one pass, then back along a different route! Fastest, easiest? Maybe not, but more scenic and offering a chance for more fishing options. Kinda depends on where you want to fish the Walker, West Walker in Antelope Valley or East Walker below Bridgeport res
