I know what a chum bag is, (kind of) but have no idea about it's use, so I was hoping that one of you more knowledgeable anglers would explain it to me.

From what I know a chum bag is used to atract fish, mainly used to atract sharks. It is a mesh bag or a bucket with holes in it where you would put grinded up fish, mackarel, anchovies, sardines. It can be thrown over board right on the side of the boat or it can be dropped to the botom using large weights or stones. There are also store bought chum despensers. I know that it might not be a very good explanation but I hope it answers your question.

The wife and I fish sharks alot we will use a chum basket or bag to atract them . We fill it with old bait . on the bottom. in the bay or in the ocean waters only

hello SLOfisher... its when u take my pops along on a fishin trip 2 bodega and he's ralphin over the side........ thats chummin..!!! ;D ;D
