Re: Roller vs Bunk for EZ Loader Trailer

Uh oh, we may be starting the great side bunk debate, Haha.

I believe having them for a small light boat makes things a lot easier. Any wind and the boat can be sideways before you can pull it...

Re: Roller vs Bunk for EZ Loader Trailer

Some guys use plastic instead of carpet on the bunks to make them more slick (slicker?). The ones designed for that use can be pricey. Have read of guys using vinyl gutter material from the home...

Re: Roller vs Bunk for EZ Loader Trailer

If you look at most winches on small boat trailer it is just that tiny little spring that is keeping the winch from back spinning free. Always a best practice to have a short length of chain with a...

Re: Roller vs Bunk for EZ Loader Trailer

3rd for bunks. I would prefer bunks over rollers on an aluminum boat. Bunks (with transom fully supported) are a lot less likely to damage your thin skinned hull.

    If you don't have them,...

    Re: San pablo reservoir help

I've caught trout at San Pablo Res on Mepps Aglia spinners, Wedding Rings, Needlefish, & small Speedy Shiners.

I would not be surprised to hear that the folks using baits (powerbait/gulp) may out...

    Re: San pablo reservoir help

I remember that the burgers/fries were pretty darn good. When I first started going the grill was open every day. Last time I was there, which has been a few years, I think it is only open weekends...

    Re: San pablo reservoir help

San Pablo is a pretty decent place for anyone who enjoys just being on a boat. Might see some deer and there are lots of waterfowl. If you aren't lucky with the trout and need to catch something,...

    Re: San Pablo Reservoir 2-15-20

Thanks for the report. You guys take the best "Fishing Report" pic's around. I haven't been to San Pablo for quite a while. I remember it as always being murky.

I agree, the guys at Eagle...

  10. Re: Anyone ever fish for trout in Los Vaqueros near Livermore?

I was curious so drove over to check it out a little over a year ago. I was walking the bank throwing a Kastmaster. I wasn't there long but did catch a rainbow. Saw a guy catching small stripers. ...

Re: Are you a Pain in the Neck?

Ouch! At first I thought it was faked. Then I saw it in several news outlets, so double Ouch! That had to hurt.

I wonder if he got to keep the fish?

    Re: basic tune up?

I go by the owners manual maintenance schedule -- you should be able to download the owner's manual for your motor for free.

For mine (Honda) every 6 mos/100 hours it includes Motor oil/filter,...

Thank you for the quick response. My wife uses FB. I'll take a look at the FS page using her acct. I suspect I will be overwhelmed, but I guess I should at least dip my big toe into the 21st...

    Re: Geez, where is everyone?

I have no idea how this type of back and forth happens on FB. How do I see what is happening on FB or IG? Once I sign up for one of those places is it as simple as searching for FS? I would like...

    Re: Scotty electric downrigger

The only electric down riggers I've had are Scotty's. I had an issue with the counter on a previous manual Scotty DR. I can tell you that their customer service is top notch.

    Until I got used...

I wonder if float pods might be a solution. I see them used a lot on jon boats. I don't know why they couldn't work on that style boat but am not an expert.
  24. Re: Did the 20-hr service, boat not peeing water

And, while we are at it . . .

If you are using those square or rectangular muffs, I had it on good authority as well as personal experience to replace them with round ones.
