Re: How crazy is this getting?

I was planning on never responding to this post ever, but coming from a miltary family and seeing the response it's sad. I saw my grandfather have his Medicaid cut because his service injury didn't...

Re: How crazy is this getting?

Just going drop this here. Two party system is broken. No side has the solution. All I ask is that we have a moral law abiding President. Not too much to ask. Know I will get lit up for this in...

Re: The Damn Prop Fell Off. PSA

Very unlikely. Unless they really just wanted to steal the 16mm nut and not the prop. Does not make sense.

    Re: Stripers MIA!!

This fall has been slower than normal for me as well. Spring bite was 10x better this year.

    Re: Crab opener bodega 11/2

We were through the gate. I think our success had to do with good bait and location. We had a variety of scent pouring out of every pot. Salmon heads, halibut carcasses, squid and chovie/herring...

    Re: Crab opener bodega 11/2

Opener was fantastic for us. Sat the offshore wind made things a bit more sporty than the forecast mentioned but got our limits easy pulling 6 pots for 40 jumbos. Sunday was even better with an...

    Re: 17 ft Tracker Safety

Thanks all. Yeah it is just those o'dark 30 departures duck hunting that make me think about safety. Life jackets and smart decisions is my motto. I have run boats for 20 years but the delta can be...

    17 ft Tracker Safety

I recently purchased a 17ft aluminum tracker John boat style. Setup for both bass and duck hunting. My question is with the low freeboard what do you all consider safe swell and wind conditions in...

Re: Fly fishing for Stripers in the Delta?

Yup, it's a good time. Get yourself a 9wt and some clouser patterns and start casting. It helps to have a basket on a belt or a bucket at your feet to help control stripped line.

  10. Re: Fall Run Swimbait/Lure/Topwater/Glide bait Discussion

How many of you tie your topwater straight to the braid? I always have a 20lb leader off my braid. Is this necessary?

    Re: Crabbing 2019

Jealous of those albie carcasses. My one chance for tuna evaporated last Sunday do to weather conditions. Now the water pulled back. I will be crabbing through the gate and looking forward to...

Thanks @dsa2780 I will be trying those flukes. Tough for me to justify baits over 25 bucks a pop.

  13. Re: Fall Run Swimbait/Lure/Topwater/Glide bait Discussion

You running all those on braid? or with 100lb flouro topshots? Pricey options would not want to lose any of those.
  14. Fall Run Swimbait/Lure/Topwater/Glide bait Discussion

Fall run is here and I am curious what everyone's top catchers are? Typically I always have a pearl AA Bad bubba shad with a chartreuse tail, a s-waver, and a spook rigged on my rods. The thing is...

Re: The Damn Prop Fell Off. PSA

Interestingly enough my Merc does not have a cotter pin. They rely on a locking washer where you bend over a tab. I like the cotter pin better but its not what I have.

The Damn Prop Fell Off. PSA

Well here is the story. Bought a new boat (new to me) very excited about my 4 stroke outboard with almost zero hours on it. Take it out twice everything running well very happy with my new little...

Re: Anyone Carry a firearm while fishing?

Only to cast and blast. Ducks in the morning stipers when the morning flight is over. On a more serious note boats have lots of storage and I think coast guard may require you to carry a signaling...

Re: Mountains to the flat lands.

Live minnow rig. Three way swivel 18" to weight 1/2 oz. 16" to hook. I don't like to hook minnows through their mouths because it restricts water to their gills making them less lively. I hook...

    Re: Rod and reel help!!

    Re: Sinker release help

No I run down riggers as well. I should have stated that is my normal fish catching range. Run downriggers off the rail and if there is a 3rd in the boat sinker release off the transom. 2.5lb ball...

    Re: Sinker release help

I have never used anything larger than 2.5lb. Sometimes I even use 2lb. Get a reel with a line counter for trolling to keep your depth consistent. I have caught fish anywhere from 10 ft to 90 ft...

    Re: Early Tuna

Depends on your boat and conditions. When we chase tuna we run a 23ft Steiger and try for calm conditions. 25 knots is cruising so just over an hours run or so.
