Question Discussion about 2016 Sac river salmon upstream of Verona

I've been putting various things together, and this year salmon catches on the Sac river upstream of Verona have been in the crapper thus far. Turns out that fish we are targeting in this river reach were mostly trucked down to the bay for release as smolts, instead of released in the Sac river near Coleman National fish hatchery outside of Redding. Trucking smolts down to the bay for release leads to significant straying to other rivers when the fish return as adults.

I hear 75% of Coleman smolts were released in the bay in 2014, and close to 100% in 2015, so next year could be worse for straying.

Anybody else have input for fishing success from the barge hole down to Knights Landing this season compared to previous years?

    Best,
    Here they come!

Beneath Verona down to the mouth in the delta and the Feather are on fire right now from all the pics and reports I'm seeing. So the fish are all probably going into the Feather right?

Thus ocean fish catches were starting to drop off this past week. I would imagine that they are starting to head up.

I will say that the ocean season is staying strong later than usual, the real test will be October if this heat wave breaks and the overnights drop I'd bet the river all the way up is going to turn chrome.
