    Re: Smallmouth or Largemouth

Smallies are nice if you have them in your area...............

Nevada waters are known for it Large mouth in 88% of it's waters, so we just have
to live with Size rather than hard fights that can go air born.

However it is hard to find a small mouth that will reach the 22 inch mark and fill a wall mount
the way a BIG LM can.

Even an eight pound LM can make you sit up and take notice, what is on the other end of the line!!

I like the Red eye of the smallie...... sort of slick to look at.
Both fun if you can get into them.

Smallmouth fight way better than Largemouth by far. But have you ever caught a 6lb spotted bass? They fight way more than even a smallmouth, they never give up!

Wow gonna have to show this to my son . I started him on trout and steel now he has this friend who has him convinced that Bass fight harder , but your right a lot of times when I hook one it feels like a snag and it does not pull drag but now the small mouth different story . I have never eaten one might have to give it a shot .

    Re: Smallmouth or Largemouth

Smallies all day. One of my fondest memories as a kid was fishing lake trinity with my uncle back in the late 90s. We would fish the rock piles, which in themselves were a sight to see, with tube type swimbaits and absolutely hammer the smallmouth.

Off to berryessa now to hopefully get a few. The week b4 last was absolutely on fire from shore in the early am on spinnerbaits.

Smallmouth!! They pound for pound fight harder, go airborne more and taste better. They are my favorite fish to catch although I fish for trout way more often.
