    ​The rod in the pictures doesn't have a single identifying label or mark. Maybe a plfueger rod, no telling.

    Seems that rods can have anywhere from small to large diameter guides. What does the number and diameter of guides have to do with castability ? Suggestions?

    Because the Dr. and wife have confined me to quarters I thought I would do something useful
    I have a 8 ft. solid glass spinning rod that I dredged from Folsom over 50 years ago.. I was thinking rebuild. Now the first problem.
    Guides! They come in all materials ,sizes and designs. The setup will be used for bait. Cats or stripers the like with a 4000 size spinner.
