    Re: 6/28 friday, the Pede....

Tried the Kokanee on the Traeger smoker, to see what would happen when Grilled at a medium
high temperature................... instead of smoking low and slow.

At 325 degrees, the 13" fish only took 30 minutes to have them reach the 145* mark... lid down.

I added sea salt, lemon pepper and spices to them one hour before putting on the grill, to sweat a little.

Cooked them on their backs, belly up,for this first try............. seemed to work ok and no stick with a
spray of Pam............. also NO flare ups, like on the gas grill !

Try faster speed, many hits and hook-up at 15- 1600 rpm on my Honda 50 in 17' smokercraft

The gear has already been posted on other messages for kokanee setups.........that work.

    For Mc.....
I just use Large minnow lures in sil/blk or sil/blue near the bottom in 100 feet of water at 2.6mph
or what ever speed works at the boat before sending down................
or any salmon gear that you have laying around.

I like them 24" or less for best flavor, even though less meat........... from this lake.

Gongrats on a nice trip. Good to hear they’re biting well. Taking the kids up in the morning. Any particular depth better than another?

Might be worth pulling something that looks like a Kokanee. Spent some time last year trying for a Mack and saw several come up off the bottom to check things out on the depth finder, but never could tell by anything bumping a rod.

Well done and thanks for the report.

6/28 friday, the Pede.... (new picture)

Had bankers hour's lift off but still put two limits in the boat in three hours of fishing,
even with the wind starting to blow from the N/W. by 11:30am

Lost 2-3 nice ones but still had a fun day.
Had on 16" kokanee bouncing all over the net and finally came unbuttoned and slowly sank into the deep.
Bummer................ I hate that when it happens.
This trip the swap/retie to one size larger hooks paid off for me. Even did well with a single #2 Gami on a few rigs
that I had time to try out.

There was one thing strange on this trip, though...........
Out of ten kokanee, three had bite marks on their sides.
I don't ever remember seeing this many marks on fish in just one outing !!

I have no idea if Mc, bows or other kokanee did this but it was weird.

One had really orange meat while the others were lighter in color.
Had a fun day on the water with OYD, thanks for coming along and helping.
    Later.
