Re: In search of small panfish lakes within a hour of Sacramento

Take them to one of the Fish in the City clinics. They are currently planting catfish. They provide rods and bait, kids only fishing first four hours. Check out their website, lots of local ponds stocked.

Try Mather Lake. You can usually find a lot of bluegills near shore.

If it’s to teach kids to fish then the pond at William Land Park or the pond at the park in Elk Grove not sure what the name of that park is. There is also Rancho Seco Park or Oak Grove Park on 8 mile Rd and I-5 north of Stockton.

In search of small panfish lakes within a hour of Sacramento

I want to introduce my nephews to bluegill fishing so that they may experience regular catching action in order to reduce boredom. I would appreciate recommendations either as responses or PMs about small lakes under an hours drive of Sacramento. I’m not looking to keep any fish and will keep provided info confidential if requested. I just want my nephews to have fun and to learn how fishing can be.

Thanks in advance for any, and all, advice.
