    Re: Boat Buying Help

I bought a boat from Oregon in March of this year. The only thing I had to take to DMV was the bill of sale, serial #’s for boat and trailer and a statement from Evinrude that I believe was for emissions. Hope that helps

I bought a boat from Oregon. You’ll ya d to bring the trailer to DMV since they don’t register the trailers. An inspection of the trailer will be performed and then you can register the trailer.

    ?

I'm not sure they even allow boats from Southern California there. It is the zebra/quagga mussel questionnaire:

"Are you from, or has vessel been operated or moored in, any of the following bodies of water: Lake Mead, Lake Havasu, Lake Mojave, Lake Skinner, San Justo Reservoir, San Luis Reservoir, O’NeillForebay, Pyramid Lake, Elderberry Forebay, Castaic Lake or any lake, reservoir, or waterway in and/or south of the Tehachapi Mountains or outside of CA?"

best deals are Feb. March, then prices go up.
Many are in Truckee and in storage when adds are posted and then the delay to see weeks later

Looking for a dual console deep V type. Hopefully around 18' but can go down to 16' if the deal is right, 90hp four stroke min with a kicker. I want casting deck up front and rear (no bass boat). A lot of Tracker, Lund, North River, etc are like what I want.

I'm one hell of a shopper and can be very patient. I have been tracking adds for two years and got a good handle on what can pop up as a good deal. Missed a killer one out of Truckee but timing wasn't right. I will watch through winter when a lot come up.

You just need a bill of sale and a trip to DMV to register it and pay your sales tax. I bought a boat that was registered in AZ and that was the process 10 years ago.

I bought my boat up in Oregon. All I needed was a bill of sale- this was about 8 years ago.

It's not too hard, a little more work if your trailer isn't registered (in Oregon some don't need to be). Get a bill of sale from the seller.
    Here they come!

    Boat Buying Help

How difficult is it to buy and out of state boat (WA, OR, or NV) and register here in CA? I looked on DMV site and I find conflicting info. My understanding is the stated I mentioned all place titles on boat and trailers so that shouldn't be an issue.
What do I need for wise?

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers,
