It all depends on what you're using. If it runs straight then 18"-24" above. If you're running lures with a lot of action or dive then adjust at the side of the boat. Just lower slow and don't get tangled up!

Re: Any experience or suggestions on ball flashers?

Pyramid Lake I used a double set behind the ball.
Running the ball at 20' and catching slot fish with lure just above on stacker release.
fighting fish and bringing up the ball and turning the rigger off just below the surface, I see 1-2 10# cutthroats rubbing up into the spinning blades, boat is still in gear at idle.
So I release the fish and send ball down again and wait 3-5 minutes and bring it back up and same thing. But they don't like the sun light and drop down within a minute.
Repete and toss different lures, flies, tarpon flies and hook them as they fade back and down.
I drew a crowd of other boaters and they stayed several 100' out of the way.
I told the crowd that I was slaying them and they all agreed.
    2-4 boats with witnesses.
This was a bay above Pelican but not as far as warrior point.
    biggest was 29" and C&R'd

Tried one set on ball at Topaz 25 years ago, hooked a silver Super Duper on 12" leader and would catch browns, 12" or so and repeated on west side at california beach

Any experience or suggestions on ball flashers?

In all of the time I have been fishing, I have not used ball flashers.
    Any tips or suggestions?
