    Re: Thieves

That really sucks. I have Scotty's and when you think about it it doesn't take long to loosen the four bolts to get them off. I hope I don't need to put a regular nylon nut on them to slow down the removal process, because that'll be a pain for me to have to do when I remove my down riggers for storage reasons.

I always worry about fishing rods and reels getting stolen at a traffic light. I use to lay them with the tips up against the transom and now lay all my rods flat on the floor so they are more difficult to grab.

I could be wrong but I think the gov Gavin Newdink signed a bill that restricted the level of investigative crime by dollar value. I do not think they would even waist the time to look, too low on the totem pole, no majic arrests....Jetspray

My first experience of beach theft was in 1958 when I was 7. My dad sent me and my sister to go back to the car and retrieve out picnic basket which had our food in it as well as other things. The car was unlocked and they took the basket and a few other things. My dad and mom drove back to town at Half Moon Bay so we could get food there. He was able to get the basket back after filling out some reports at the police station. It was a weird day that day.....Jetspray

Just want to give a heads up. My buddy and his friends was cleaning fish last Friday at the Westside ramp ( Bodega Bay) . After cleaning fish they headed for there boat which was in the parking lot. Once they started to get close to it they seen a guy remove his electric Cannon down rigger. My friends yelled and tried to catch the thief but they are older and couldn't catch him. The thief tossed the down rigger in the back of his truck and sped off. Please keep and eye on your property. Loosing expensive gear Sucks!
